Hello everyone, I reciently replaced the left and right parking break cables on my 86 iroc. I adjusted them so the lever to be completely after 13 to 17 clicks like the hanes guide said. The problem is the parking break doesn't work at all, it will not hold the car even on a small incline. I tried looking up how the parking break system works on these cars but didnt get much info. Any ideas on what could be going wrong? Thanks Much!

 

I hope you didn't buy the cables from ....auto zone. the first step is make sure the rear brake hardware is all good and you have the shoes adjusted correctly. then you pull the handleup 5 clicks and under the car you adjust the front cable until you can just barely turn the rear wheel backwards ,but it locks when you try to turn it forward
