Re: Vacuum Pump

I am still building my engine, but I am going to buy a GM Aux Brake Booster vacuum pump on eBay (way cheaper than any kit you'll find online) and then buy this switch http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ssb-28146sw (and it's important that the switch control a relay and the relay control the pump) and you'll need a check valve and a T-fitting if you're going to use engine vacuum and just supplement it with the electric pump. I don't think they're loud, with the switch, you'll only run it when the vacuum needs to be increased so it won't be heard with the engine running.

Re: Vacuum Pump

I have this on my car. You can hear it at idle a little(my car isn't very quiet either), but not much when your driving. It doesn't run constantly but frequently. Brake a couple times and it'll run for a couple seconds.

Re: Vacuum Pump

i bought one off ebay from a parted out earth mover, cheap and works very well in my gf's 78. Sourced an adjustable switch online too to control when its on and off. They run every now and again depending on brake useage.
