Front Wheel Offset
I just completed the front big brake upgrade to LS1 calipers and rotors. I thought I had researched the conversion completely before I started but I was surprised when I finished and mounted the wheels. It appears that the front wheels are now offset to the outside approximately 3/4" on each side and could possibly contact the fenders if the road is very rough. Has anyone else experienced this change and if so, did I miss this write up somewhere?

Re: Front Wheel Offset
Yeah, I'm not sure....I'm using LS1 brakes with stock wheels, and I didn't experience this at all. ....and I'm lowered 2" also, so all clearances are extra tight.
.....aren't the hubs just STOCK hubs turned on a lathe? Did you fab your kit or buy it?

Re: Front Wheel Offset
I purchased the hub and spindle assembly from Ed Miller. I was surprised with the offset result so I will contact Ed to see what he might know about it. Since everything is already installed I am probably going to have to live with it unless I pull everything back off (which I don't plan to do). My wheels are ROH so nothing was changed between the installation which leads me to believe the wheels are not the problem and I had already lowered the car 2" before the brake installation.

Should only be off 1/4". Unless it's a c4hd setup or other using a 1le rotorhub

Re: Front Wheel Offset
Have the LS1 upgrade on two cars, the offset didn’t change enough to notice on either car. As Abubaca said, the hubs are just turned down standard 3rd gen rotors. A 98-02 rotor is slipped over the hub, therefore the offset should only change by the thickness of the rotor hat. Shouldn’t be enough to notice. Doesn’t sound like standard parts were used in your kit.

Re: Front Wheel Offset
If you pull the dust cap and castle nut you can get the part number off the outer bearing and that will tell you if you have a 1le hub or standard

Re: Front Wheel Offset
The rotor hub thickness is approximately 1/4" to 5/16" which will account for some of the unexpected offset. They are aftermarket items since I didn't want to reuse the originals that I got with the calipers. I rebuilt the calipers and wanted everything to be as new as possible. It could simply be that I just don't remember the exact original offset of the front wheels/tires. I will make sure of what bearings I have so I can verify the hub type. The bearing information was new to me so thanks for the heads-up.
