Proportioning valve Question

Proportioning valve Question
The Car has OEM 4 wheel disc brakes,
I trying to get my rear brakes working. End of last year I put on a left rear caliper and now I just put on the right rear caliper now and will be bleeding them later this evening.
I also had a new proportioning valve I got from Summit racing and that one has 5 ports for hooking up lines. My stock P-Valve has 6. 4 on top and 2 underneath. What am I missing here, do they want us to plum 2 lines into 1 or do I just have the wrong P-Valve? This is the one they list as a replacement on their site. Oh and there's no spring in this one, is a 4 wheel disc car supposed to have a spring in the P-Valve?Pics attached.

Re: Proportioniong valve Question
That's a "universal" valve, not vehicle specific. They are intending for 2 in, 2 out and you "T" the front two brakes together after the valve.

Re: Proportioniong valve Question
Thanks for the response Scooter.
I really don’t want to get into that so I’ll look for the proper one. Didn’t have much luck at NAPA finding a stock replacement though. And I’d like to have the option for upgrading the spring for more rear brake pressure.

Re: Proportioniong valve Question
You won't find the stock one new, anywhere, especially at a place like NAPA. You'll have to get a good used one and replace the spring as you want.

Re: Proportioniong valve Question
Did you try reading the instructions? Because the instuctions on Summit's website show how to hook up that valve... It's got two inlets and three outlets, and the stock valve has two inlets, two front outlets and a rear outlet, so whats the problem?

Re: Proportioniong valve Question
Did you look at the pictures of my stock valve? It’s got 6 areas for lines and the new one has 5, it also doesn’t have a spring in it. As Scooter mentioned mine is a universal valve and could probably be used by splicing 2 lines into one but I don’t want to get into that.

Re: Proportioning valve Question
You need to go back and count again. The stock valve has two lines in from the master cylinder, two lines out to the front left/front right, and one line out to the rear that splits above the rear axle. No clue what you're looking at that makes you think there's 6 lines there.

Re: Proportioning valve Question
I said 6 ports, not lines. Guess I should have elaborated and said the top middle was the pressure switch and then there's 5 other lines going into my Stock P-Valve. Count them in the picture Bud. So again...6 ports, 5 lines in and the pressure switch on the top centre. The difference was with the Summit racing valve only has one port on the underside and mine has 2-as I initially said in my original post. Thanks for your help though, You're THE MAN!

Re: Proportioning valve Question
Right, you'd have to make custom lines, or adapt the lines. The ports on the aftermarket valve are SAE instead of Metric anyway, so they wouldn't thread right in even if the ports were all aligned the same way. It could be made to work, but it'd be more work than pretty much any other alternative. Carry on.

Re: Proportioning valve Question
Figured I’d update the status on my brakes.
Got tired of laying under the Car on the garage floor, took
it to my uncles Shop and got it on the hoist. Brakes are now DEADLY.
Found the sweet spot by spinning out the caliper piston and got the air out of one of the lines coming off the master cylinder.
Now I can go back to work tomorow for 2 weeks without stressing about getting good brakes when I get back home.
