Ebrake cable hitting drive shaft

I've heard this weird noise when I hit bumps it sounds like a grinding noise. We figured out it was my ebrake cable hitting my driveshaft. My ebrake also dosent work. It only works just a little bit when I'm going slow and pull it up all the way. Do I need to replace my entire cable or just the lower?

Might not need to replace anything. You might get away with just adjusting / tightening the E-Brake cable adjustment nut. This adjustment will remove the slack ( no more hitting the driveshaft ) and it will make the E-Brake engage sooner. Kind of a PITA to adjust when the drive-shaft mounted; but 'do-able' with a small vise grip and a box wrench. ( spray with penetrating fluid to make things easier for yourself ! )

Need to slip both cables over the guides in the tunnel. They like to fall out of place when messing with the brakes, then they don't pull tight and they hang down and rub the driveshaft.

I already tightened the nut almost all the way there's about 1-3/4 inch left to tighten.

Make sure the cables are in the guides... 2 little curved tabs in the tunnel, maybe 8 or 10" behind the "equalizer". (the part the adjuster pulls on)
