Front Brake Upgrade?...

Is there a front brake upgrade for thirdgens that fits under 15-inch wheels? 'Would be nice to have something better than the stock 10-1/2" brakes, but I have no intention of putting bigger wheels on this particular car...

Im looking for the same info. I have 15" stock turbocast rims and im not changing them. But the brakes suck and fade at high speeds.

The 1LE front brakes should fit under 15" wheels, but they're so obsolete they're hard to find any support parts for them any more.

The C4 standard 12" rotors and calipers ('90 is a good year to use) fit under the later year RS 15" wheels. Those combined with some decent pads work well. Can use the stock disk/hub cut down for the new disc hub. Longer wheel studs are recommended.

Caliper bracket is easy to come by.

Need to cut the ears off the steering knuckle and drill/tap some holes. Be sure to get the Corvette rear disc's (NOT front) for the swap. There is a write up here somewhere for this swap.

And am sure there is a vendor offering a bolt on swap (machine work already done).

Re: Front Brake Upgrade?...

Not trying to hijact this thread, but someone has had to have tried the 1le brake upgrade with turbocast 15" rims. I don't want to hack up my spindle just to find out that they won't fit Also are the corvette rotors the same diameter as the 1le rotors?
