Park Brake cable routing with LS brakes

I have installed an 8.8 rear with LS brakes in my 88 Firebird, How are you guys routing the park brake cables? I have the PBR 3rd gen cables but they seem short to use the 4th gen routing which is what I would like to do. I've seen where someone has modified the 4th gen cables by welding on 3rd gen ends. That's always a possibility but was hoping to use the 3rd gen cables.

I have the 4th gen factory hoops that bolt to the rear cover and cable mounts that I planning on using.. Pulled these from a junkyard.

Re: Park Brake cable routing with LS brakes

There are 2 lengths of the cables for PBRs in the listings for our cars; can't recall what the #s are, but if you have the shorter, might want to get the longer. Check rockauto.com and see what's available.

Otherwise, the idea of welding the ends is probably the best way to go.

I like the factory retaining hardware better than anything else. Lots of other stuff will "work" but it's really hard to find something that will hold that stuff still over the long term with all the vibration. Even tie-wraps will "work" but will require frequent attention. Good plan to use the factory thingies as much as possible.
