Hawks HPS or Stillen metal matrix brake pads?

I am looking at replacing my front brakes on my 88’ GTA later this winter and can’t decide on Hawks HPS or Stillen pads? I will run good quality oem style rotors as the car is a summer driver that doesn’t see the track at all. I am really just looking for an upgrade over stock but don’t want a ton of brake dust, noise or temperature issues as race pads or the lousy stopping power of parts store pads.

I found a few older threads that really touted the Stillens over the Hawks (which I was getting ready to purchase) but the few members who mentioned those Stillen pads had nothing but good things to say and liked them more than Hawks.

I was tempted to upgrade to LS1 front brakes from big brake upgrade.com but do not feel at this time it would be worthwhile on a street cruiser that won’t get auto crossed etc. Any opinions are appreciated.

I went with the Hawks HPS 5.0 because I could get a matching set front and back, where as the Stillen no longer seems to offer the PBR rear pad for my application. I did the LS1 front brakes, its a great upgrade over the stock hardware.

How do you like the Hawks pads? They must be a nice upgrade. I think I would do LS1 brakes if I went with the 17 GTA wheels but I worry about figment with my OE 16s that I also just recently refinished. I was told I could switch the OE wheels from front to back and use a spacer

Haven't installed them yet, so we'll see. Have EBC pads on the car now. The LS1 front brakes should work with the 16" wheel, I went with the Hawks 17" GTA wheels because of lack of tire choices for the factory 16s. Having known that I would have gone that I probably would have skipped the 4th gen brakes and done a base C6 set brake set up
