what is "performance package" for factory brakes

Need some help I went online with Rock Auto to order brake caliper kits for my 88 5.7 IROC and they list standard, heavy duty (except performance package), heavy duty with performance package and performance package. How do I know what I have, the RPO codes haven't helped.

Performance package RPO for your car is 1LE, check your RPO codes for that...however you likely have the regular single piston calipers so just pick one WITHOUT performance package or just standard brakes. Another easy way to check on your car is compare the caliper pictures or pull one and see if it has one piston or two, single piston is regular brakes and two piston is the performance package. IIRC there were very few 88' IROCS with 1LE but don't quote me on that.

Thanks for that, I didn’t know if there was another performance option other than the twin pots for a 1LE. It’s a bit strange that RockAuto is listing parts for the performance package when they only built about four of them in 88.

Yeah it does not make much sense but at least they support the cars/parts, that and some ppl have upgraded over the years to that set up.

If you have to ask, you don't have it.

"Performance" option calipers are easily identified by the aluminum calipers, with fins; as opposed to the old cast-iron calipers that are smooth and rusty.
