91 Vert 350/5spd in NC

Freshly rebuilt 350
Crane Cams 216/228 .454/.480
Weiand Stealth manifold
Edelbrock 750 Carb
Edelbrock TES headers
Flowmaster exhaust

First off, that's the draw you in and make you look picture. It doesn't look nearly that good anymore. The only real body damage it has is the one dent in the driver's side rear quarter panel (visible in pic) and some bondo in the passenger side, but the crappy cheap paint job is flaking off pretty bad. Original color is black, and it's showing through in a lot of spots.

The other bad news is that the previous owner tried to put in a 4th gen dash, and doesn't have any guages wired up. Also it has no center console. I'm going to get a few guages hooked up just so I can see what's going on, but I am trying to find a good stock dash and center console in a junkyard currently. Also, needs a new top, which can be bought from topsonline.com for $175.

Only rust it has is in the bottom of the rear bumper support, not a big deal really. I'm going to start fixing this car up slowly since I don't have a lot of money to work with, so as I fix it, the price will go up, so if you want it, better jump on it!

I'll try to get some more pics posted if there's any interest, but it runs good, just needs some TLC. I'm in over my head with projects right now, and decided that I need to get rid of a few.

I'm located in Durham, NC and can help with delivery for the right price.

$2300

Just an update, yesterday I took the huge Edelbrock 750 off and put my Road Demon 625 on, runs awesome now. The 750 was loading up a little under light load and crusing. That Demon is awesome!!

Car really needs a lot of wiring work, but I'll be figuring that out as I go, might be picking up a stock dash for it pretty soon, and if I do, I'll be hooking all the stock guages back up.

Bump, still for sale. Like I said, this is a solid start for someone who wants a good project, but I just don't have the time for it right now...

Well, by September/October, hopefully I'll have all the wiring issues straightened out, and have the stock dash/seats/guages back in and functioning, so the price will definetly be higher.

More Pics

BTW, the Edlebrock is not there anymore, it has a 625 Road Demon (that runs GREAT!), and a black wrinkle-finish Chevrolet 14" air cleaner. Engine bay looks much much better...

Car is back for sale again, just got back from looking at the new Colorados...

Anyway, just to reiterate, the car runs great, I cranked it up a week ago or so, and it fired right on the first hit. IMO, all it really needs to be a good driver is a stock dash, console, and a new top. Runs great, drives great, just needs a little love.

Actually just bought a digital camera yesterday. I'll get you some pics in a few days. It might not be an even trade either, would you be willing to throw down a little cash? I take really good care of my car, it's in good condition.

Kinda depends on my financial situation if you know what I mean.

Where are you located? If you're too far away, I'd rather not even get into it. Last few out-of-state car buying/trading experiences I've had did not turn out well.

Bumpity bump.

Would also possibly consider trading for a street bike of equal value. Or lesser value plus some cash.

Well, I had decided to keep the car and fix it up, but we just found out that we have a baby on the way, so it's gonna have to go.

Bump. Price is very negotiable at the moment. In about 3 weeks it's gonna get pulled in the shop and have some work done to it, and the price will be much more solid....

Just going off of memory here, but I believe the motor has about 1500-2000 miles on it, and the body/chassis has about 120k. The original dash is gone, so I don't really know for sure.

I'll try to get some pics of the interior tomorrow, right now it's pouring down rain here.

It has power windows (both work), power steering and brakes, not sure about the power door locks, but my experience with 3rd gens is that usually the PDL's don't work anyway. LOL.

Is the original wiring for the TPI engine still there? Computer? You can email me at jbelcher337 [at] Charter [dott]net for a faster response. Thanks for your time.

It is supposedly sold, but I'm still waiting on the money. I have it pulled in the shop right now to do a little bit more fine tuning, tack the exhaust up better, and close off the hole in the firewall where the heater used to be. If this sale falls through, I'll follow up with a post and some more interior pics. Thanks for the interest though!

Did you end up getting a 3rd gen dash in it and the gauges working yet? Also what did the engine come from?

No, haven't really done any work on the interior yet. The engine came from an '87 van according to what I was told, but it has TPI 305 heads on it.

Also, just to reiterate, this is by all means a PROJECT CAR! I know it will make someone a nice car someday, but it is a long ways from being a reliable daily driver. Just don't want to disappoint anyone if they come look at it. And since it's getting down to crunch time, I'll take $2000 cash, but absolutely no less. I will keep the car if I don't get $2000 for it. It'll just have to be a project for the winter of 2010...

Hey Joel, and everyone else...

I'm the pervious owner of this car. I've been away from the boards for a long time now, just getting back into it.

Joel, I hope you're not selling it because you're dissapointed in the trade. I tried my best to describe it as it was beforehand. Either way, I'm happy to see you still have it. Just seems like you have too much going on right now to do anything with it. I was very happy with your car, but unfortunetly, had to let go of it a couple months ago due to my moving up to Maine and just finances. But hey, if you still have the car in a couple months, I just may consider buying it back from you. Oh, and if you need to know anything specific about the motor or anything, don't be afraid to ask

-Ryan

Thanks for the reply, Ryan!

I won't lie, I was a little bit disappointed in the trade, but it's mostly because I didn't realize how attached I was to the Trans Am until it was gone. You did do the best job you could have describing the car when I got it, I just miss that Trans Am. As you can see in this thread, I've gone back and forth several times on selling it or fixing it up, but the baby on the way was the last straw, and I knew it would have to go. If nobody buys it, I'll still keep it and fix it up, the car has plenty of potential, I just don't have the time or money at the moment to do it justice.

so what exactly does it need? a list would be nice as i'd need it as a daily driver almost immediately as i don't have another car.
so...
1) new top
2) new paint/dents fixed
3)???

Well, dents/paint isn't exactly a neccessity to be a daily driver.

1) New top
2) Seat belts (the shoulder belts work, but for some reason, the lap buckle doesn't want to work correctly)
3) New front seats, could be just the adjusting mechanism that's messed up, but they don't adjust like they should, and they're not held in with the correct bolts
4) Gauges, whether you add some aftermarket ones and get the current dash to fit up properly, or put in a stock '91 dash, it needs something
5) Headlight switch, currently wires for switch are just hanging under dash, could be fixed easily with an orginal dashboard
6) Center console, again, not a true neccessity, but there's not one in there now, so it looks very unfinished.

Also, it has no heater core/blower motor, so if you can't deal without the heat/defrost, it'd need something there. I know that sounds like a lot, just trying to be as honest as possible. If you're in Raleigh, feel free to stop in sometime and see the car in person.

Not really too interested in trades at the moment, need to get rid of some projects since we have a new baby in the house. I wouldn't recommend taking it on a long trip mostly due to the fact that there are no guages hooked up, and the top would have to be down the whole way. Thanks for the interest though, I have an individual who is very interested at the moment...
