Re: First Pics of my Car is 19" HP lightnings
Thanks, the tires are 275/30/19, by the looks of them i think ill go with something like 305 in the rear next time but still they fit just fine.
The only problem i have is the spacer up front isn't wide enought so i had to use and aditional spacer I had laying around to get the fronts to bolt up, however the wheel bearing cap sticks out a little too far and wont let me put the HP center cap on. Ill bang the cap in a little and get a even wider spacer to make it right.
Im also going to pull the rubber spring guards off the rear to lower it a bit more to see if it gets me a better look

I'd go with a 275/35 or 285/35. I got 295/30's and wish i would have tried the 305/30 for abit more sidewall. my front has to come down tho, 255/40/18 has alot of sidewall and looks odd. I should run a 305/30/19 rear with a 245/40/18 front to make it much more eveni will not go to a smaller 285/35 tire in the rear
its easy enough to lose traction with the 295s but for the most part they do grip pretty good for a 19" small sidewall tire Joined: Aug 2006

When I first seen 19s in the title I was like eww nooo!! But then I click on the pics and I said to myself wow they dont look too big..I didnt think they were 19s. They look bad ***. Get a taller sidewall for the rears and it will be set!!

I must say....That's the first time I thought 19"s looked good.
I think they work, because of all the "dead" space of black area in the spokes.
I'll agree with the need for taller rear sidewalls though.

I vote for bigger brakes to fill some of that dead space. That might even give you the extra spacer thickness for the fronts too.

Re: First Pics of my Car is 19" HP lightnings
The reason i think these 19" rims work better then most other 19" rims is because of the mesh design. Alot of the five spoke rims that are 19" have spokes that look too thin. I think i should go with a tall side wall in the back to. probably a 35 instead of the 30.
My next thing to do for the car is to convert the rear drums to an upgraded disc. I like SBBC brakes or Baer but i think the new camaro that is coming out has big nasty brakes up front with calipers that say 'camaro' on them like the vetts do. I may wait and see what i can do to get a set of fifth gen brakes!
Thanks for the compliments everyone, i was iffy about the rims but im glad i bought them. Ill take the advise from up top, i think ill go with at least 295/35/19 for the rear tires next time. That should give it the look im going for.

Re: First Pics of my Car is 19" HP lightnings
The rims are 19X9 and i did need spacer's. The spacers appear to be 2" front and back, ill get the backspacing on the rims and post up the tech portion of the rims tuesday. Sorry for the lack of spec's but i promise to have them later.
The hood is a Sunoco hood from Hawks thirdgen. I think it looks like something GM would have put on the camaro as OE if they went with a cowl hood. It follows the stock lines of the original hood and has the ridge in the middle just like the stocker too. It's a very smooth looking hood, if your looking into getting a cowl hood i sugest this one!
Thanks again on the compliments, Im loving these rims more and more every day. I wanted five spokes but took a gamble on the mesh rims and couldn't be happier. They just give a whole new look to the car and goes outside of whats normal to see on thirdgens. The next thing for my to do list is to get front and back LS1 brakes with slotted rotors and beef up the motor to finaly make the bite match the bark. Also im going to get 4.56 gears and a T-56 installed before spring so more good times to come.
I just took new pictures today so look for new ones to be posted up tomorrow. Thanks again!!

Re: First Pics of my Car is 19" HP lightnings
Nice rims. I bought the same ones in Hyper Silver but havent mounted them yet... Im starting to think though that I want 275/35/19 over the 30 series tires. How does it ride with the 30 series tires?
Re: First Pics of my Car is 19" HP lightnings
Nice decals man. Where did you get that? I just read a thread about decals that being stripped easily at the other thread. Nice tires too!

You are going to love those rims when you get them mounted, and i agree go with the 275/35/19, if you can go with a wider tire then the 275 then do that to! I think my car would look better with the higher profile on the back so thats something im going to make sure i get done soon
The ride with these rims and the 30 profile tires is bumpy to say the least, but im sure with a 35 it would improve. It's not a big problem seeing how we are driving mucle/sport cars and not a BMW so you should be fine with the ride of it.
----------
got the decals at HAWKS thirdgen. There my first place to go for things like that, but cheaper deals can be found elsewhere....just depends.

Re: First Pics of my Car is 19" HP lightnings
Hmmm....It's like, I don't hate them...but I don't like them either. They just don't seem to blend in with the car. Maybe if you painted the centers to match your car, they would unite the entire look.
Also, it seems that the sidewalls are way too small. Even though they are 19' wheels, the sidewalls look tiny. Tiny sidewalls on a large car that is not lowered looks a bit off.
