Sounds like a good plan, I might do something similar if I don't buy another car..or even have the money to do either

Looks like we have the same goals. I agree with the no Nitrous too, not only is it a limited source of power but it gets expensive constantly filling the bottle up.
The other car I plan on Buying is an 87 Supra Turbo, so it's not even a beater, I'd have to buy a beater also if I get that, thats 3 cars I'd have and only 1 I can drive year round haha. But if I can't get that car I'll probably just put all the money I saved up right into the Z. I wanted to keep it off the road for a couple years and do some restoration work on it (damn atlantic ocean and winter salt), but like I said itmay not be an option yet, gotta see how the money thing goes.

supras are cool but 13s could be yours(depending on cash) if u dump the money into it right off the bat. what do u think the cheapest easiest way to get to 13's would be. doubt u could get there with all bolt ons(unless u consider heads a bolt on). if i did a head cam swap with a accel manifold and SLP and ported shiat i should get there no prob. i have a huge list. but unfortunately i just do what will help preformance best for cheap right now. im broker then usual and still no car. FUNKIN AUTO PAC. got a site id love to see ur car.
EDIT: i found ur car domain site. LOL

Well the way I see it is 13's ion my camaro now, or 13's with 2 cars next year. I'll probably just be buying the supra to fix up and sell for alot more cause I'll be gettting a pretty good deal if I can get it.

I'm not all that great with knowing what needs to be done with what to get into certain horsepower/time ranges. But I'd say what you have planned, and maybe a new cam, alittle bit of headwork and some prom tuning and youd be set engine wise. You can't forget about your suspension and rearend too. What do you have for rear gears now? and is your car a 5 spd or auto? suspension work?

I plan on making my car handle more then a striaght line car. 13's is all I care about for a 1/4 mile, it around a track with corners that I'm interested in making my car perform well for.

Yes that would be nice. I always find it weird that us thirdgenners try to beat and/or compare to 4th gens or corvettes when we should be trying to beat Fords and the such. But I do it too, I just want to beat LT1's and eventually C5 Vettes (not so sure about a Z06 though) BUt of course If I could beat a Z06 there aren't many mustangs that would give me any problems.

Oh yeah beating your friends is way better then beating random people. With friends you get to keeping reminding them they lost, so they get something better done to thier car, then you do, and out of the rivilry you both get better cars.

do you have any more pics of your car? Looks real clean.

Just about done...a few things left to swap on in the spring, and I'll be set.
I've had it out for a couple of late-night runs - it feels good to drive something with some power again!
I also took the opportunity to swap out the overdrive gears in the T5; 1300 rpm at 80 km/h should be good for economy, eh?
Here's how it's looking about a week and a half ago...and more pics of the project (for those that aren't aware) can be found at http://www.hioutput.com/pete/formula/formula.html
Speed safely!

A88GTANotchback, that is a beautiful car you have there. We have a Notchback over here on the extreme east coast, St.John's NF. I should know, my friend is storing it for the winter in my garage! LOL. So everyday I get to go out and look at my '88 GTA and his notch. Life is good!

As for 13's, no problem. I could have had 13's with the mods in my list if I had a proper suspension setup and traction. I ran a 14.39 @ 98mph without being able to launch the car hard. Couldn't launch it hard because she would spin through first gear and my 60' would be toast! With my new mods that I installed over the summer and this winter 12's shoud be no problem. And thats right where I want to be. The majority of the cars that I cruise with around here are 12 second cars or better, so it would be nice to compete and have fun with these guys at the track. Come over and visit us at http://www.nf-fbody.com. Our message board is currently being reworked, along with our galleries and video section, but keep checking back and say hello. I'll post some pics of my friends notchback a little later. Here's mine for now.....

Thanks for the compliments! I will post some pics as soon as I can. I have a few in my imagestation account but they are not that great.

As for my times, I was happy with them as well. However last winter I got gready on the mods and attempted to do to much at once and missed 99% of last summer. One thing would lead to another, lack of time to work on her mostly, so I haven't really driven my car since those pics that I posted where taken in the summer of 2002. Man I miss her! Leason learned...take your time with modifications. If I had stuck to my original plan of suspension, nittos, and torque converter I would of had alot of fun this past summer running 13's all day, but you live and learn I guess.

As for my friends Notchback, we are trying to do some research on the car. Do you have any, or know where we can get, information on how many cars where sent to Canada etc? Notchbacks I mean. We have done a few search's in the obvious places and are coming up short. We know the numbers of how many where made in total, 624, from the GTA Source Page. But I have heard that those are only the American numbers, Canadian cars where not included in this total. Any truth to that? Also we have heard that hard topped, 5.7L, digital dash notchbacks are the rarest of the Notchbacks. Do you know if this is true? His car is exactly that. I think he is going to get the information package that you can get from Vintage GM for a fee of $40 Canadian. You send them the vin # and they send you all sorts of info like a copy of the original build sheet, what dealership it was sent to, and if it's a 1 of ?? car. I'll let you know what we find out. And I will post some pictures of his notchback, good ones, as soon as I can.

Forgot to mention one thing. My times where reached at a elevation of sea level. Our racetrack, Clarenville Dragway - http://www.5liter.nf.net/, is level with Trinity Bay and Bonivista Bay. These bays are actually the Atlantic Ocean, as you can see from the map on the website. Point being, you may not see the same results with the same mods because of the elevation of my track. When we race we have very good air to race with. Not freezing cold, like most people think. Most days at the race track are actually 30+ degrees. But because we are at sea level the cars like the air. Just thought I would give you some food for thought.

V73 - Vehicle Statement, US/Canada

V97 - Vehicle Preparation, Export

Z31 - Advanced Price Sheet, Canadian Models

Z49 - Export, Canadian Modif Mandatory Base Equip

Definitely need the V97 and Z49 to be an export.

if u got these u can join me in having a super rare notch.
theres no way of finding the exact number cuase GM is tools(in my view, i mean seriously why not keep track) as for the whole 5.7 witha hard top cloth and Digital dash thats what i have. so if thats the rarest combo my cars prolly close to being one of one.
Check the RPO's and let me no what u find

I just re-read my post and I think I made myself sound old talking about my son and all. LOL. So to set the record straight I am only 25, turning 26 next month, and my son is only 3.

Anyway, we have run into a little snag. The rpo code sheet in my friends Notchback is missing. I don't know if he has it somewhere or if it was'nt in the car when he bought it? So I will have to ask him where it is. It's not in the factory location, in the map pocket or any of the pockets behind the seats. I'll let ya know what I find. In the meantime here are some poor quality pics of his car...

Here we are racing at our local track, I'm on the left.....

Scotty, you making up all the chatter on this board or what. Anyrate hows everyone doing.. Scotts hogging the spot light with his Notchback... Well i must say ive seen Scotts Notch and its a very sweet looking car..First Notchback ive ever seen. Were kinda blessed here in Manitoba we have lots of rare thirdgens.. Ive seen the 84 Recaro, Ive seen 1LE's , Turbo T/A, and Notchbacks with my own eyes. Just haven't seen a real Firehawk or a GTA or IROC with the SLP pkg.... Nothing much about my car.. Its a '91 GTA, black on black.. 100K km on it all availibe options.. black leather interior looks like it was barely even sat in. Its never seen the likes of winter or snow.. I don't drive it in the rain or anything but a sun shiny day. Im blessed with having enough money to afford to pay insurance on a everyday driver. As for the cars performance its seems to a praticuarly healthy L98. I've only had the chance to run it at SIR where all i managed to stumble through was a 14.8 @ 94 MPH w/ a 2.4 60ft..which is equivlent to a 14.6 hear in Manitoba. my 60ft is killing me. However its my own fault cause i rolled through the water box and my tires were soaked. DUH IM confident the car can pull into the 14.2-14.3 1/4 mi times, providing i remember to not drench my tires. Which for a fully loaded stock GTA with a 210lbs driver isn't to shaby. Anyrate there not much more about me...But if you guys don't mind i think ill join into your lil conversations... GTA are you from Virden or around there?

common cam show off that minty bird...u know ur gonna. AT any rate if ur doubting the autencicity of the notch go to the back and remove those big flat head screw in the trunk on the left hand( i think) side and it will say something like spare tire for Notchback. all the documentation u can find helps. also i take it buy map pocket u mean the center counsel? sometimes ive heard of it being under the carpet and **** even cold have been buil on a friday

We are not to worried about the authenticity of his notchback, we are just curious as to how rare it might be. I left him a message saying I couldn't find his RPO sheet, he hasn't gotten back to me yet, I'll let you know when he does.
