Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?

Havent done anything to the old girl this winter *sigh

Right before I parked her she developed a few major issues. Pretty sure the voltage regultor is gone in my not even a year old Alt. She will start but the volts are around like 8 and lights are really dim, first time i thought was just low from sitting so went for a drive to try and charge it, but she just got worse. Tried starting her a few days later, same thing and my belts were squeeling like crazy, so I just got discouraged and left her sitting under a foot of snow all winter. I just hope that it didnt drain my brand new battery trying to charge the alt.
Maybe when it warms up I will get the itch to drive her, and get back to working on her, but as it sits so does she.

Hope to have something else done by the first races, maybe figure out why she was throwing codes last time, cost me time on my slips, just not running right. Get that sorted out at least...
Gotta re-hang my exhaust as well, dont like where the tips are sitting, and one of the pipes touches creating a very annoying rattle, lol forgot about that see first trip out what else i forgot about.

Honestly though, I think alot of my efforts are going to go into my new 2nd gen bird to get her up and running, the GTA will stay mostly as she is for drags this year I think, i really need a garage so I can rip into internals for her... But its 2 in the morning and I think I rambled enough.

Hope to see some of you at the drags!

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?

I didn't really do much to my car either, I changed the oil pan gasket cause it was puking oil pretty bad, My girlfriend bought me a new Autometer tach so I put that in, and I've been playing with different advance curves for my distributor thats about all I did this winter, I wanted to start building a new motor for it but being that I am back in school I can't really afford it, looks like I am stuck with the 305 for awhile.

I should be at the first race in may.

Nothing wrong with 305s, just kinda slow. I still have few things to button up on my car, power steering pump is just hanging there, both u-joints in the driveshaft need to be changed.

I wanna hit all the drags in osoyoos, and a few in spokane if that track actually opens this year, but that all Depends on how the Job situation is
at the end of May when I finish school.

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?

Takes me 45mins to and hour to get to kelowna, and an about another hour depending on traffic, to Osoyoos, and im in Pen. So it should take you about 2 hours unless you get stuck behind someone slow lol

Oh and got some work done lately on the old girl
Figured out why she is throwing codes at me and got that figured out. Also had one of my spark plug wires pop off over winter, Found out why she was hunting so bad at Idle as well, was due to a old craked vaccum hose, so replaced that and now she is running and idleing propperly.

Pulled out my TPI intake, runners, and plenum (bought a second set) working on doing a full port job to them now, and polishing them. Hopefully have them all done and back on the old girl before the first races.

Also pulled off my rear caliper to rebuild it, turns out dont know if I can someone else apparently tried before and buggard the piston seal and I cant buy the individual part. So I think im just going to upgrade all of my brakes instead of buying two new rear calipers, if I cant fix mine. Just gotta figure out what brakes I can fit with my GTA rims cause im not changing them, so C4's, LT1's, LS1's etc going to do research and see what I can fit. Anyone with GTA rims upgrade their brakes?

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?

Well, I fired up the 'bird after parking it in july due to me blowing up the transmission. Soon as I grab a replacement from my friend's towing yard and find someone to install it (my only work area is an outdoors slanted driveway), I should be good to go. I'll be working to finish my hood scoop project as I only got about half way so far. Not sure what else to work on yet.

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?

I have been on this forum for 3 years and just now found this post.

Would anyone be interested in a spring "tune what you bring" event?
somewhere between penticton and kamloops. late may - june?
I am thinking beer, barbaque, computers, geeks, and some wisdom from others.
perhaps a dyno session?

Unfortunately, I've hosted a barbeque a couple times in the last couple years and only a one or two people came out. I guess Kamloops is too far.

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?

In case I can't find one from my buddy's yard, does anyone have a working 700R4 (from a v8) they would like to get rid of for cheap? I need maybe two summers of daily driving out of it.

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?

Hey I just saw an ad in the local Kelowna classifieds for a bunch of rear end stuff.. The thumbnail shows a third gen drag car

http://classifieds.castanet.net/show...342380/cat/170

I'm somewhat tempted to pick up the 10 bolt 3.73 rear and grab a posi off him too but I have not yet sourced a transmission to get my car running yet.

Im in Penticton. GTA is currently down and out as it has been all summer *sigh.
Getting LS1 backing plates, this tuesday, then HOPEFULLY get them on the car and have her back on the road again!
Then maybe I can get to work on the 78...

There a quite a few around town. And a few very nice clean ones. Great town for car shows and such to, and they always seem to come out of the woodwork in summer

you wouldn't happen to have a floor jack and a driveway I could use? my shifter isn't working right and I need to get under there and adjust it, I'll bring you a case of beer.

The linkages are too tight, I can work on it here, its just that my parking space is dirt and its not very level, and I don't have a jack, I left mine back in castlegar.

There are actually a ton of f-bodys there. Primarally 3rd gens. vifbody.ca club is pretty much dead now but you can still check out the forum and meet some people. I used to live on the island and was a member of that club, pretty good guys there.

Thanks for the headsup on the VI clubs! It is still alive, and I am waiting for registration confirmation.

Heya,
so basically you want a Black on black, 350 auto, leather and power everything?
Are you just looking in the okanagan area, or down the coast, or are you willing to import it from the US or Alberta?
Do you have a budget?

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?

been looking from the east coast to the west.got an appraisal done on one i found and a carfax now the guy has been jerking my chain.i stumbled apon a beauty today.not really what i was looking for but it may work.91 camaro rs rag.130 k original owner all the paperwork the whole shabang.absolutely mint only 50 k's from home.even comes with the original wheels that were never used.comes with a rock'n stereo the original stereo never used either still brand new in a box.i don't think i can pass on this one considering the BS i've been going through on the gta.she'll even store it for me until spring.i think i'd be crazy if i didn't buy it.the car is on hold for me at the moment.just doing some legwork seeings i had my heart set on a gta.i'll let you know how it goes.the cars going up on a hoist next saturday for a final look.

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?

congrats on the find, sounds like a nice car. I understand, I just kinda stumbled onto my GTA when I bought it But you could always grab the marrow, and if the right GTA comes along buy it too lol or sell the marrow for it :P
