Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?
lol, Na I could never really sell her just want to sometimes.
I am putting in headers and have everything pulled off the front of the motor. I have the Air conditiong and power steering pump 1/2 way back on, but I think that the little guy that lives in the basement has moved some of my bolts, cause I cant find them anywhere!
And yesterday was sunday so nothing was open.
Oh and dipstick is still an inch from being in, spark plug wires need to be done, rad needs to be filled.
Oh yea, and found out my distributor wasnt tightened down, gotta set timing, and pull that all down tight....
Sigh. I just need it running, so we can fix the next car on the list. not to mention it has to be in kelowna on monday(next) for a court date.

It lives!!!!!!!!!
lol, the GTA is back rumbling around
still kinda miffed at it, but god is it nice to drive it again
Hauled on it this weekend, and minus a couple stumbling blocks got everything back together and finished it around 9 on sunday night. Pity couldnt make it to the BBQ, but on another positive note, the cop dropped my no front plate ticket and saved me a bunch of money
headers are in and I even re-hung my Borla, so now my tips stick out the same length and hang the same length!! Just gotta get them centered now.... lol
Anywho, taking it to Osoyoos to see how much HP gain a set of good headers and Y-pipe will make, this weekend, Ill let ya know!
Then once I get my base numbers for that, im throwing in an airfoil to see how much hp gain I get from one of those things....

Only when you start doing the "major mods" like heads, cam and intake do you really start to notice the power gains...and again it is best to get a really good tune.

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?
Well I have been doing one bolt on mod at a time then taking it to the track. And so far with just a Borla catback, K&N intake, and a tune up (spark plugs and wires) I have gained 10 mph in the 8th mile, from stock.
So I am going to see what the headers and Y-Pipe give me, then put in the air foil and run it again.
And I got a airfoil thrown in with the last bunch of TPI parts that im going to port out.
Now that I have all the little bolt ons, the tune is next on my list before i really dig into the car. I want to do it right and make this fat old girl go like hell lol
After that, all my ported goodies are next, Cam and heads.

When's the next race in Osoyoos?
do you need a helmet or anything?
is it actually a track or just a closed section of highway?

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?
I actually just went racing today, this weekend was the last drags till Sept
Sooo you have lots of time to get your cars ready lol
And is an airstrip track, no helmet required but recommened by tech guys.
And so long as you are 8.60 seconds in the 8th or slower you are fine.
I race in the Street Warrior class, so you dont need an ET or anything, just go as fast as you can.
Also its not an instant green tree.
And speaking of tech guys, check out who did the tech on my car lol....

Its mike from Boyds, or Foose lol
And the gains I saw from just my Hooker headers and Y-pipe were, in 1/8th mile times, from a 9.891 to 9.653
and from 73.38mph to 75.6mph, and there were no other changes to the car
Next drags, Im going to do a couple passes with just putting in an Airfoil, see what I get, and then putting in a smooth coupler getting rid of the ribbed one going to the intake, try and smooth out the airflow a bit more, see if I get a gain. I'm making a spread sheet, with one bolt on mod being tested at a time, just keeping track and so far its kinda interesting to see.
Actually here, its the Osoyoos drags web site.
http://www.winecountryracing.ca/schedule.html
And heard a scary rumor (no backing) but this might be the last year of Osoyoos drag racing..... have to wait to find out

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?
I would hope to be in the 14's at least! Cause I was running a 15.8 in the 1/4 mile, and a 11.00 second plus in the 1/8th mile.
But I know I have picked up alot of time in the 1/8th due to my launch, and shift points..... still not fast enough though.....
Got a bunch of spare TPI parts that I am going to be porting out, need new heads, cam etc, and a good tune. Haven't decided what cam or heads yet though...

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?
the 21st in Osoyoos there is one, and one more in Oct not positive when, but Ashcroft has fun day, where you line up and race
And as the bird needs to go into service while the daily gets a complete paint job, so I will be going to both as far as I know.
Ashcroft is the 4th/5th of Oct, and it is an awesome time, I am excited and makin sure to head up with a bunch of friends and their cars from the club. Should try to make it out

Yepp, Im going to Osoyoos
As for tech its not totally indepth, but gotta make sure your battery is tied down, no beauty rings on rims, and no loose stuff in your car that can bounce around. But you can unload what ever is in it, once you get there. Other then that, what were you worried about?

The leaking would only be a problem if it drips on the track, they will side line you for that.
As for the cut off, your good lol I have no such thing on my car and have raced there many times.
Should be a good race
Have you raced 1/8th mile before? any times or mph?

who knows.
As for showing up we usually get there between 11 and noon, you can come later, but they like to do the driver meeting, and I think that all the races are pretty much the same as for start stop times etc.

Yeah... I'm out in Oliver, and get out to the Osoyoos drags every time they're on, Oct 5 was the season closer. I didn't run my 87 because I just got it, (with a STOCK LG4...puke!) and I want to freshen her up over the winter before I make her talk dirty! I did see the whiskey chick in action (nice ride by the way!) I had the 87 there though...Parked at 1/2 track in the good spot on "******* row" (of course!)... Anyway... It's good to see some other people from close by. I would definitely be into helping anyone in the area with mods or audio... Whatever really, I'm just surprised because most sites don't know where BC is... let alone the interior. My email is buickturbo@hotmail.com if anyone cares. Cool

Anyone here looking for an 85 firebird?
T-tops, blue on black interior, recent paint but should be resprayed (comes with paint) 305 with a fresh rebuilt th350, new brakes.
Right now not running, the guy i got it from pulled intake and valve covers off but is a good running engine. I have a stock intake and Q-jet for it.
Also needs a rad as they had a 2.8 rad in it.

Right now not running, the guy i got it from pulled intake and valve covers off but is a good running engine. I have a stock intake and Q-jet for it.

Small world eh? Did you see that Malibu from Penticton run before he broke out? Pretty quick... It's too bad Osoyoos is only 1/8 mile. My wife wants to run the truck if there is a next year(she refuses to drive stick). So lets all keep our fingers crossed that there will be a race schedule next year, maybe we'll see if I can give you a run!

I hope they don't shut down, I just got my car back together and I am not gonna do anything to it this winter so when spring rolls around I should be good to go.

From what I've heard, (from a VERY reliable source) the land might be used for a new subdivision. But due to the failing US economy all the builders in our area are putting new builds on hold, so yes,we are hopeful to get RPM next year, but that's still quite a ways off.

Yes it is but I'm not sure if the airport is actually in use, or if Osoyoos bound traffic got steered to the Oliver airport. From a financial aspect the Osoyoos airport makes squat unless WCRA shoots them rental money.

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?
Actually, not trying to start an argument but, the Airport is indeed still in use. That is why when you do a burnout at the end of the track you are NOT allowed to continue it into the white markings on the strip. Therefor the strip itself will not be removed any time soon. Even if it is a "closed" strip it remains open for emergency use.
Also, These are from the Wine Conurty racing site:
Both in response to the racing being removed from Osoyoos. As it stands there are no difinative answer as of yet, but everything looks very promising and if there are any other questions you can always go on the Wine Country Racing web site, and ask on the forum. They are good about answering questions there as well. They have the best information as they are the ones dealing with it.
Also, These are from the Wine Conurty racing site:
"There is a planned development for an industrial area... BUT it does not mean the end of WCRA at the Osoyoos Airport.. In fact we look forward to this project. I should put power and running water on the site!! We may have to move our pit area to the other side of the track, But that also can move the spectators more towards the burnout box.. "
"Im gonna answer based on what I have talked to folks about. there IS planned development for the highway frontage. What I seem to be hearing is that it might not be all bad for the club, as then we would have better power, water etc. With the election of a new mayor coming too, things indeed might change, but I would be very surprised to see this shut down as it is GREAT family entertainment. I ask that the club keep us in the "loop" as I know that our "folk" will fight with you! "

Re: Anyone from the Interior of BC?
No arguing here, I'm sure that Doug (from WCRA) would definitely have the inside scoop. I want the track to stay just as much as everyone else, and am glad that it looks like the strip stays.
