Auto insurance
Hey
I just pulled my 83 camaro out of storage and got my new insurance policy which really pissed me off. Last year i was paying $3923.79 a year ($326.98 a month) with only my G2. I got my G over the winter and now the same company upped my rates to $5820 a year or $485.00 a month. this really pisses me off! i've called like 50 other companies and none will go near me because of the age of the car. I'm a 20 year old male in mississauga, ontario with a clean record. my parents don't drive so i can't go on their policy. so the only way i can drive is if i pay the $485.00 a month! When you buy a car for $1300.00 bucks and u have to pay 4-5times its value over a year in insurance is crazy!
Just wondering if anyone else has a similar problem with insurance? anybody got any money saving tips?
thanks

$485.00 a month thats not good but not too bad
when i was 20 and i had a full G with a clean record I was paying $510 a month with my 82 Z28
oh and i live in mississauga also
after being with wawenesa for a while im now down to $200 a month liability only
but its weird for them to just raise your policy like that unless there was some sort of reasons such as a ticket or an accident or some information.

Wow, I'm paying $40 dollars a month! Through a company called the "Personal." I suppose it's a bit of a group discount, I'm insured on my 1999 Mercury Mystique, 2004 Monte Carlo SS Supercharged and the 1989 Iroc, all three for less than $400 per month (of course my parents have their cars on the plan too). At any rate, last year when I just had the Monte and a G2, in my name, it was still only $174/month (with 2 million liability, but thousand dollar collision deductable)...and they're great to deal with...you might want to check them out.

Must be different in Manitoba.
But I am 30, clean record and only paid $1100 a year($92/month), that was last year anyway.

thanks

they are a good company especially because they do group rates.
They also deal with military group rates(im in the military), so once im done my camaro, im getting it appraised and im definatly switching to them. I know for a fact they will be cheaper and I will have more then just liability. Only reason I havent switched yet is because I need this insurance that covers me on my daily driver the sooner I get my camaro together the better.

i just paid $660 for 6 months. works out to $110/month
just liability. I'm 19 with a clean record and drivers ed crap.
There was one company that I called though and they said they didn't even know if they could insure me because they are high powered vehicles.
yay for 145hp stock. although i have a swapped engine, they don't know. But they generally have no idea what theyre talking about, they just assume. Z28
