20 years ago (!) I was on my way to Oklahoma from NB. Some members of www.thirdgen.org put on a gathering, meeting up in Norman, OK. We spent a day at Thunder Valley dragstrip in Noble - the same track you see the 405's Street Outlaws practicing on. Drove my 84 Z with it's LG4/T5 down and met some great people, ran some 14.9's in the 104* F heat, and brought home the Long Distance award for travelling some 2250 miles (~3600 km) to get there.
Currently out of the 3rdgen game due to financial reasons....hoping that will turn around

Re: 20 years ago

A bunch of little things added up...Engine had around 200k miles on it so it was 'loosened up'; it was a non-CC carb so it was tweaked and used a set of DG secondary rods, replaced the stock clutch fan with an electric unit, replaced the stock cam for one with 0.420" lift on both intake and exhaust, Hedman shorty headers and y-pipe, Dynomax 2 3/4" catback. 3.42 rear axle. Low optioned car so it was fairly light, synthetic fluids.
Same engine and transmission in an 83 SC got me a 14.49 a couple years later at my 'local' track.
