Alpine Alpine Clarion
Ok, I am looking at trading my Xplod set-up for a more powerful Alpine/Clarion set-up. I want a Clarion Head unit, an Alpine V12 amp, and 1 12" Type-R 4-ohm DVC. Does this sound like decent set-up to you guys? Would you make any changes to it? On the amps should I go for the MRD-M300 at 300x1 RMS or the more powerful MRD-M500 at 500x1 RMS? Is one enough, or should I get 2 subs and 2 amps? I mainly listen to rock/rap, so I want pretty good bass. I will also get 6x9's, but I am trying to decide if I want to spend $200 for a pair of Type-R 6x9s. The links are to the Crutchfield site showing which items I want:
Clarion CD Player
Type-R
Alpine MRD-M300
or
Alpine MRD-M500
Thanx for any info/opinions

. Do not use the Alpine V12 amp. Use your money and invest in either a RF Punch or a RF Power amp. The RF's perform better. Also, I would go with 2 subs. And shop around for the subs somewhere else, I can get them here for $140 each.
Alpine makes GOOD **** YO.....clear and reliable...my 95 alpine HU is still hittn hard.....lol...Alpine for the hardware and Infinity for the speakers in my car.....SOUNDS AWESOME....yeah V12 and CMMD.

If it were me, I'd spend the extra $50 and get the Clarion DXZ725.

Now now, I still like Sony car audio, but everyone around here is getting it and I like to have different stuff. I also like to spend money, so I figured I'd get a new system and paint my car. I figured I'd try some Alpine cuz it looks tight and campro has been raving on and on about it in every possible post
. I'm not getting rid of my Sony stuff either, at least not completely. I will keep the amp and head unit for now until I come up with the extra money laying around for a amp and headunit. I'm also thinking about keeping the silver sub and having a sony and alpine running, each on its respective amp, w/ that tight Clarion CD player, or the new Sony headunits. Sony is still awesome, they will alwayz be awesome, and if anyone askes me what I would recomend for stereo equipment, I'll still say Sony, Rockford, and Alpine. Just remember that without Sony, you'd still have your tape decks in your cars

Ya, your right, but I tryed. But still, I never had any major problems or complaints with there stuff (yet) but I know it's not the greatest either. Sony just does too good of job talking up there products *cough*Playstation 2*cough*. They talk it up, people go for it and get dissapointed I guess. I wasn't dissapointed, but I wasn't overly thrilled w/ it either. I'm gonna shut up so I don't sound like an idiot...again. I'm at least changing over to better things (alpine) and 2 kids are now the proud owners of an Xplod sub, which they happily payed $80 for one and $130 for the other for a total of $210 for me. I just named a price and let them hear it in my car and they said "ok, I'll have the money end of this month."
gotta love it.
