Alpine Type-R owners help!

How deep is a Type-R sub from top to bottom? The site says 7" top mounting depth, but that seems a little shallow from looking at the pics. I would like to put the sub facing the back of the car, and have approx. 12" to work with. 1.5" is taken up w/ the front and back MDF board, so that leaves 10.5" of room. How far does the cone move? do I need to leave 3 inches to make sure it won't hit the back of my car? I like the heavy bass stuff like rap and rock. Any help is appriciated. Also are you satisfied w/ yours?

yes,I believe the 7" mounting depth is the correct depth, and they move alot, 3" is plenty of space though. They are very good subs, I have said before, in my opinion, they are the best you can buy.

i've been praising these things for months now. i love my 12 and there are few subs that can touch the quality, sq, and spl for this price. if i had to do it all again? i'd either get the type-r, shiva, or blueprint. only 3 subs for this price that are in the same league.

I've heard you praise and praise them campro, and actually your the one who made me want to get one w/ the way you talk about them. What did you give for yours? Crutchfield has them for $200, don't know what the local dealer has them for, but I'm sure it's that or more. Anyone know where I can get one for pretty cheap? I want the 12" DVC 4-Ohm sub.

Well, I sold my Xplod subs. I got $80 out of the red one and $130 out of the silver one. The 2 guys are gonna pay me when they get paid at the end of this month. So that is $210 for a Alpine Type-R sub and the materials for a box, IF I buy from Ike sound. If they don't have there site up by the end of this month when I get the money, I'm gonna go to the local store and throw down $200 for it and borrow one of my buddies old boxes till I get the money to build/get one built for me. I have 1 question though...how do I wire the dual voice coil so I get the most power out my my 2-channel amp? if you could draw a little diagram in piant or somethin, that would really help. Thanx alot.
