what gauge power wire?

I had a amplifirer in the car and used a 8 gauge wire.now I have bought a jbl amp(gts100 35x2rms)) and it has a plug/harness with only a 12 gauge power wire coming from it.I know I cant join the big and small gauge wires, can I?Do I just run a new 12 ga wire to the amp,and is that enough for it? Also this amp can be bridged and the other amp couldnt. It has a low/high or off position on the filter,do I turn this off if running it 35x2 and not bridged?thanks alot

not sure on joining the wire, but fot the filter, that refers to what frequcnies that it filters out, if your running subs set it to low, that filters out everything except the low notes, if using it for a component set, set it to high it filters out everything but the high stuff, or if your using it on regular speakers for full range sound, then just leave it set to off

get a fuse block with different gauge outputs. Most have 4 or 0 gauge in and then 0,4,8,12 gauge outputs.
