4x6 replacement questions

I have a few questions about replacing my 4x6's. First, How the hell do I get to them? Is it difficult or a 30 min job? Second, I have heard peeps talkin bout having to do some heating stuff to there dash or somethin like that so that the 4x6's will fit right, so what do I need to avoid so I won't have to do that? And lastly, what is a good set of 4x6's under $100-$150. Thanx for any info, and :hail: those who reply.

There was just a topic about this. It is a 30 minute job, all you have to do is take off the dash pad. There are a few screws underneath the dash pad, and I think there are four in the vent on top of the dask pad, then that pulls off and the 4x6's are right there. I don't see why you would have to modify it at all for new 4x6's, unless they have a abnormal mounting depth.

I believe that there is a tech article on how to replace the 4x6s in the dash. I had to cut some plastic out on the d/side to get my Kappa plates to fit in. The p/side had alot more room.

I have the 462.0cf from 1995. They are pretty good speakers. The problem is that the magnet is offset and larger then stock, and there is very little room on the d/side. But i did get them in with minimal work. I dont know if there is any problems if you put them in a Camaro.

you should be fine with your camaro and installing some 4x6's. The real problems with fitting an aftermarket 4x6 comes when you try to install in a firebird.... the speedo gauge is directly underneath the mounting hole for the speaker, so you only have around 1.5" or less if i remember correctly.

My car had the plastic speaker mounts in the front. I have Boston Acoustics plate speakers in mine and they are shallow mount and still wouldnt fit. Theres only about 1.5 or 2" of room it seems like. I had to use a little spacer to make the speaker sit in the mounts.....
