Anyone have or had the stock CD player?

I just bought a factory stereo/Cd player out of a 91 Camaro. I know its far from the best in car audio...but I'm doing a restoration (umm, except for the pearl paint..and the engine...but hey...who wants to rebuild a 305?) and wanted a factory unit to replace my old cassette (tried as I might, I just couldn't get my hands on an 8-track...hehehe ). Anyway...I hear these are pretty rare for 3rd gens... does anyone out there have one? How does it sound? It won't be going in for another few weeks, and I'm curious as to what to expect. Has it got any guts at all? I'll upgrade the speakers in the stock locations (any recommendations on what to go with would be appreciated)...wondering if I should add an amp. No subwoofers though...its a convertible, and I need to be able to carry more than just my toothbrush in the trunk.

Man, that's a pretty stock:cough: restoration your doing

The factory CD players are alright but they only play certain types of CD-R's and they will skip over big bumps. As far as the power out put from the deck to the speakers, it's just like the top of the line factory tape deck. If I were you I'd run a small amp like a Pounch 60 or something to give just a little more.
