newbie to audio here. I know you pros can help.

I have a completly stock system. Two 6x9's behind the sail panels and the two dash speakers. What I am wanting to do is replace those speakers with the best ones available, get a great CD player (doesn't have to have CD changer) and an amp. Nothing overboard.

Thanks

For a CD player, I would recommend Kenwood Excelon or Alpine. If you want really good speakers, just scroll through the audio board and see what everyone is recommending and then go find a store to listen to them and see if YOU like them.

i second the cd players, both alpine and kenwood make excellent head units.. as for speakers, i highly recommend infinity stuff.. but of course, go listen to it first.. they're pretty popular and cost-effective, and they sound great.. as for amplification, a 4-channel alpine v12 (for example, the mrv-f340) would work real nice as well.. or you could use a mrv-f450 and add a subwoofer (later, if you wanted) to the 5th channel.. a bit spendy, but it would mate nice with an alpine receiver and infinity speakers.. anyway, thats my .02

I don't say that those are bad choices for head units, but i would really recomend looking at poineers lineup, lately they have came out with some really great head units, as for the speakers, they are all about the same as far as you will be able to tell, it all depends on what you want, top of the line and loud, cheap and ok, or midrange and good. If you contact a local stereo shop they should be able to help you out and then you would be able to go to the store and listen to the speakers. I would find a couple ste up hat you like and then bring it here to the boards for our opinions... my .02

I know i might get bashed with this.. But there is a headunit that Sony makes.. Sony Xplod CDX-CA650X <-- Man this CD Unit ROCKS!. I am not a fan of sony and i was hesitant to buy this unit.. hey.. it was $100 off my buddy, But man it made my speakers sound SOOO Damn good. Its not the most high priced or flashey CD Player you can get.. But it's a steal at what they are selling them for now.. i think its $200
