Alpine CD Head Unit Wiring...Help!!

I just bought an Alpine CD/Receiver for my 91 RS. I bought the car used about 3 months ago and it came with the factory CD. I've got all the speakers hooked up no problem, but here is where I'm lost. I have the red from CD going to the red from car; the black (ground) going to the black (ground) from the car; the yellow going to the yellow from the car; the blue for power antenna is not used; the blue/white striped switched for amp is not use; but I have a pink, brown, grey, and orange left over from the car that is not hooked up. The entire unit is not working. Where do these wires go? Sorry if this is simplistic but I'm kinda new at installing stereos. Thanks

Most decks need 2 power sources to work: a constant hot and a switched (radio lead-its on only when the key is in run or acc positions). Make sure both are connected. Do a search in the forum. I believe a wiring diagram was recently posted with the wire's color code.

I understand the concept of constant and switched power and of course ground. Back to my previous question...Where do the others hook up? Do any of them connect to the constant or switched power source?

Red from the deck goes to yellow in the car. Yellow from deck goes to orange. At least that is how it is in my car. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk but from personal experience, if you like your equipment never just assume that the same color wire in the car is meant to match up with the same color on the deck. It a very quick way to eventually fry something. Before you know it you'll get a smoke show out of your dash. Get a test light and learn how to use it to find the proper wires that you need. Hope this helps.

This is also how it is in my '91RS for the Alpine CDA-7995 I just installed last week.

Thanks for all the hlep. We now have rockin' tunes in the 5-speed. When all else fails use common sense.
