ATTN Metalheads!

Allright, I've been seeing this alot lately.... people asking about what kind of subs would be best for listening to Metal, but what I want to know, is those of you that already have systems installed and do listen to Metal, what facet of the Metal genre are you more geared toward and whats your setup? I only ask because there is such a large difference in all of the Sub-Genre's that are covered by metal. And I thought it would be interesting to see how everyone gears there system up around the different Sub-Genres.

What I'm asking is, do you listen to:

Heavy Metal - Typical Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica type stuff.

Speed/Thrash Metal - Anthrax, Pantera, type stuff, with fast beats and even faster axe work.

Death Metal - Cannibal Corpse, Malevolent Creation, Iniquity, Anasarca, Morbid Angel type stuff, with deep brooding vocals.

Black Metal - Dalmerot's Kingdom, Emporer, Mayhem, Dimmu Borgir type stuff, with searing evil vocals and a terrorizing sound.

Power Metal - Rhapsody, Symphony X, Hammerfall, Dragonhammer type stuff, with more peppy fantasy oriented vocals, and a fast paced yet melody laden riff work.

Doom Metal - Type O Negative, Sentenced, Katatonia type stuff, with deep sincere vocals, and a more depressing tone... you swear that there won't be a next album because there all gonna end up killing themselves

Radio/Pop Metal - Marilyn Manson, Coal Chamber, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit type stuff, with easy to become attached to vocals and somehow luring musical edge.

I just wanna know what Genre you listen to, and the setup which you listen to it on.... and how happy you are with your setup, or what you think would be a better setup than you have now.

Lets see it ppl!

I just need those satalite speakers and I'll be set. Well As long as it doesnt fry again. Oh yeah a Band pass box would be nice.

I listen to practially everything from death metal to country.... even that Hindu/Indian sounding crap... but mostly stuff with guitar..

Dosent anyone listen to :hail:Fear Factory... their beat is awesome.. it hits hard as he!! too.. i guess its like Industrial/death metal

Kenwoods up front...
6x9 Kenwoods in back...

and a BOSS 600 pushin 2 cheap 12's... ($200 for that with box)

mine is nothing amazing, probably 110-115db... but its enough to hurt my ears

it hits very good and holds up to BASS cd's.... but more DB would be fine with me..

NOTHING sounds more insane than Mudvayne's first album pushing 2 12s. Listen and you'll know. Fear Factory applies, as well.

Hehehe - Quite intersting!!!
I personally found that music to be crap too a little while ago. Till i got my system installed. I was born in Africa - so i didnt learn much of the Indian language. After getting my system ready i wanted my mum to hear it, after a little bit of rap, RnB, dance, euro...she said try this cd.
I put the "crap Hindu/Indian cd" in and oh my goodness!!! I didnt understand a word, but i heared highs and lows i thought never existed. I actually used that cd to tune my system, with some help from Enya too.
I will try some African music too and let you know how it sounds!!!
Hehehe - Quite interesting!!!

I am melodic death fan. Like: In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Opeth, ect...
Don't have a good audio setup so this post is very educational for me. Currently Pioneer speakers and a JVC cd player. Gotta love blasting the melodic death metal loud and getting all the funny looks from people who like their worthless trendy crap.

You wanted to know some other bands that adhere to the Doom side of things, so I figured I'd go ahead and let ya in on some

1) Sentenced is an incredible Doom/Death band. They can be considered death because of the lyrical content, yet they don't have the gutural tones that bands of the genre typicaly adhere to. But for the most part they are an exquisit Doom Metal band, no quite as deep as Peter Steele from Type O or anything, but by all means not the birghtest outlook on life

2) Tristania is also another incredible band, I'm trying to keep within the vocal context of Doom metal at the moment. But there are alot of incredible bands out there that don't sound exactly like one another. Type O is a creepy doom laden sound with clear vocals, but there are other bands that don't keep that same sound but are also in the Doom catagory. Tristania is almost more Death Metal that they are Doom Metal.... but they could pull off either VERY well.

3) Tiamat Doom laden vocals, and a great sound. Both Gloomy and Transending of the lead singers pention for all things evil. Check um out.

4) Theatre Of Tragedy another excellent band very becoming of the Doom title, yet not adhereing to normal vocalist standards (Nothing Gutural mind you, they have a team of both a Male a Female vocalist.)

5) Grave Flowers Another excellent band to add to the list. 2 of the members show up in another band called Godgory. Also an exquisit Death Metal band.

6) Ever Eve A good blend of both Death and Doom. They create a great sound and couple it with vocals that tear at your soul, not to bad if you ask me

Hehe, I could keep going, but I need to get back to work.... check those out for now, and keep in mind that most of the Doom Metal bands tend also to dip into Death Metal from time to time, so check some of that out as well.

Sorry for this being devoid of stereo content, but hopefully someone else will read this and list there setup or maybe this will bring the post to there attention. Once again, I apologize for the lack of technical content.

Adam

Hey bunker... try some Arch Enemy or some Children of Bodom...

Very nice Melodic Death metal... defines the catagory for me...

Also... do any of you NJ metalheads listen to Beyond the Flesh... or Divinity Destroyed... c'mon now... Flesh is a kick *** band... and Divinity is a sorta melodic death band... give 'em a try, or see their shows...

I have my setup in my sig. I mostly listen to hardcore and good metal with breaks. None of that nu-jack mtv crap they play on the radio
[list]
Zao, a life once lost, pig destroyer, converge, curl up and die, circle of dead children, undying, unearth, caliban, heaven shall burn, at the gates, between the burried and me, hatebreed, nehemiah, six feet under, shattered realm, slayer, the year of our lord, throwdown, underoath... that kinda $#!T

If you have your amp set up right subs will sound great with any kind of music. I had a crappy 600watt Jensen amp for awhile the amp couldnt handle alot of the music with really fast double bass and usually over heated... So keep that in mind when choosing your amp, or just dont turn the music up really loud....

i'd like to think that a good system can handle anything you throw at it!

does anyone here listen to Prong,or know who they are?

their music has unique way of moving a sub.
