need help with my new head unit

i bought a head unit from a kid at work...........works great, sounds great...only problem is that i need to know how to wire it in correctly.........i have it rigged right now..............

what happens is when i shut the car off the head unit does not retain its memory.....................

i am pretty sure i have all the speaker wires out of the head unit hooked up right, so thats not a problem

its a sony head unit going into a 1991 camaro

i have the wiring harness adapter out of the sony

AND i have the wiring harness adapter going into the camaro's harness

i bought it harness adapter at a car stereo shop and the kid who sold it to me told me just match color for color (on each harness)

it worked but i had to rig it, and no power is getting to the head unit when i turn the car off

its a sony CD head unit BTW

i have something wrong though, please help

thanx in advance

Reverse the yellow and red wires between the harness and the head unit.

nope didnt work.....................

also, the only way the head unit will work is if i connect all 4 power wires all together

yellow+red+yellow+red

what am i doing wrong here?

bad ground maybe?

so instead of yellow+yellow
and red+red

i have yellow+red+yellow+red...........thats the only way it will work

Your constant hot must not be working, thats why it comes on with all 4 connected together, and the key on, otherwise it would stay on if the constant hot is the working one, check your fuses if not go chasing your wires, maybe run a new constant hot.
