Need help on box

Im going to be making a 3/4" thick MDF Box for 2 my MTX 10". I have made many boxes before but never new they need to be certian sizes(ignorance). So I looked over the sheet that came with my subs and have decided on going with a 1.5ft^3 vented enclosure for each sub.Now here is my question what formula do I use to see if my demension are going to give me 1.5ft^3?
Also should I angle the top plate of the box so my subs are pointing toward the front of the car or the back?

One last thing what is the difference in sound between a 1.0ft^3 ans say 2.0ft^3 box.

First of all, there isn't 3 ft^3 of room in a 3rd gen if you still want to see out the back of the car, or keep any of the plastic pieces back there. That well is barely 1.5. Volume is Length x width x height. For odd shaped enclosurers you have to break it down into several little shapes and then add them all together. The smaller the box, the louder the sub, but it sounds like $hit. A vented or ported box has a very mellow sound not punchy at all. On a side note, the port has to be a certain length as well to tune it properly. A sealed box sounds very "tight" A bandpass box sounds really punchy and works well for most hip hop and rap music. They are very loud too. When you build your box, you also have to account for the volume that the speaker is going to take up. You need 1.5 ft^3 of air in the box, so it has to be bigger than that with the speaker out.

some manufacturers take driver displacement into account when they give you box volume. for example, if you buy an infinity sub, and it says make a 0.75 cubic feet box, and the driver displacement is say 0.15 cubic feet, you wouldn't want a 0.90 cubic feet box; you'd just make it 0.75. But you're going to want to check with the manufacturer to make sure.

The boxes I've been making are 2.12 cu.ft. total, so you could make a 1.0 cu.ft per side ported box in the well. 1.5 cu.ft. would be a real stretch. Like Monkey said it would at least take up the whole trunk including the shelf. And with ported boxes you also have to add the volume of the port into your box calc. Which means if you need 1.5 cu.ft. with a 4" port 10" long, with a drver displacement of .06 cu.ft. then you would probably need a total volume of 1.65 cu.ft. If you tell me what model subs you have, or list parameters, I can run a frequency response graph showing the difference between the different enclosure volumes.

My speakers are 2 MTX Thunder 6000 10" 4 ohm Subs 250 watts RMS.

Hey REZN8R what are the dimensions of your box. Would I be able to use your box.

The sheet that came with the subs said:

1.0ft^3 box

Vent Dimension 3"x10"
F3 39Hz
Tuning Freq. 42Hz
Ripple 3.42db
Net Volume .89ft^3
Driver Volume .06ft^3
Vent Volume .04ft^3

1 cu.ft. with the port and driver displacement already accounted for would fit perfectly into one of my boxes.

REZN8R do you have a diagram or some measurments so I can make one the same as yours.

Unfortunately I was behind schedule and sent the box out without writing down all of the measurements. I can tell you from memory that the total length is 39.75 inches and the length and width of the very bottom piece is 28x10 inches. I built the whole box and then added the fitted top. Otherwise, maybe the pictures can give you some ideas.
