factory speakers

My car at the time isn't running but i go pick it up at the shop next week. My question is that when i go out and listen to music in my car the subs are poping when i have the performance sound on. why is that? Could it be that the car isn't on and the battery just doesn't have the juice to power them? The battery is quit old. Thanks!

probably blown. If your talking about the factory sub option with the stock paper speakers. It doesn't surprise me that they would go bad after 16 years of usage.

If they are newer speakers then I'll need more info of what is going on.

I am in the process of replacing mine right know. I want to keep mine stock so I am searching for options. It is not the paper that goes bad, it is that rubber ring around the top that rots out. I have have found a couple of options, however I am going to keep searching till I find the best value.

OK, after doing some massive searching I found some 5 1/4 subs. One set was made by Focal (very nice and very expensive). I really dont think they were really made for our stock systems. Was on E-Bay and ran across some 5 1/4 pryamids subs for like 25 or 30 shipped to my door. Recieved and installed today. For the money I think they sound great on our stock system and made a big difference. Very happy I went with them. Note, you do have to do some minor opening of the existing hole, however nothing major.

is that a recent picture? i just replaced the 6.5"s in my girlfriend's stupid Honda(i hate working on those things) and the factory 6.5s surrounds were just rotted out... i'm sure if you replace the speakers, it should work fine.

P.S. speakers just get old. Electronics aren't forever. the best bet it to just replace them, sound quality will increase TREMENDOUSLY

yes it is a recent picture. Im thinking about replacing the 4x6's in the dash and putting 6x9's in the sail panel and then making a custom sub woofer box for two 10in. subs with a amp.
