A buddy of mine got the Alpine CDA-7894 and he paid about $350 for it. It is real nice. Very good, and I mean VERY good sound, and features.

My brother also has what I think is the Alpine 7894. It's the silver and blue one. I think the 7893 is the same but it is black. Don't quote me on that. Anyway his is awesome. Great sound quality and many high end features. I have an older 7863 and I don't think you can go wrong with the Alpine stuff. Based on experience Alpine has my vote.

Car: too many ...
Well, when I started looking for a deck I wanted the best value I could find. I needed a deck that could support the system I was planning (3 amps, 2 sets of seperates, 2 12" subs) and was geared towards sound quality, but most of all, (looking at my book of 200 CD's) I needed a deck that supported MP3's on CDRW's. I looked at a bunch of MP3 decks and finally decided on the JVC Digifine 2.2 SH707. I bought it off ebay for $235. Its a great deck! I never wanted (or even looked at) a JVC deck before they came out with the Digifine series. Digifine totally changed my opinions on JVC decks, and version 2.2 is even better. Aluminum face that can angle out (3 settings), three 2.0 volt gold plated pre-amp outs (front/rear/sub), 19 RMS x 4 power, Supports MP3's on CD-R or CD-RW discks, 7 band EQ built in, and the best part is the navigation of MP3's ... very easy. You can check out specs here.

And now I only carry 4 CD's in the car (92 B4C). They are all CDRW's full of MP3's (one for each genre) and I can erase/rewrite them whenever I want.

I'm a fan of In-Dash of LCD's, if you can find one for cheap i say go for it......

I would MAKE sure to get a warranty if you get a JVC.....They burn up faster then my tires do......:sillylol: :sillylol:......or at least the two i bought did.....

Alpine 7969. Excellent sound quality - 7 band eq - great display - speaker positioning - relative ease of use - face folds in and actually looks like the face is detached unlike other units. And many many many other functions.
Can be had on ebay - or other forums for around $400.
I have one - awesome!!!

If I were you I'd just go to crutchfield.com and look at all the decks they offer and the options. You can compare and see what you like and dont like. But dont buy from there. Go to Etronics.com. I got my Kenwood deck( which I think you get the most for the least with Kenwood) for 80 bucks less. Can't beat etronics prices and shipping is fast. I also bought my Alpine speakers and subs from them..

A guy that works with one of my buddies said that he got a new pioneer and he loves it. He said something that I thought was interesting. He said that his deck can change the throw of the woofer. Can they do that or is he retarded?
Thanks,
Brian
