Question about 6 inch subs...

what would you guys recomend as the best 6 inchers? i just blew 2 fosgate subs (they were old and bought from a friend...) so i'm looking to replace them, i'm not sure about the size of the box and all but my amp will push pretty much anything i can find. any ideas? i plan on after getting the subs mounting the boxes straight to the bottom of the lid in the back with a few holes for the subs to poke through. ohya, i'm looking for good and inexpensive! it sucks being in highschool...

thanks

Agreed, you definitely want a 10 or 12 inch sub rather than a 6 inch component speaker. You won't get any of the really low frequencies out of anything smaller than 10 inches (or 8 if it's a REALLY good speaker). And you defintely won't need a box that fills up the whole hatch area for 6 inchers. Do a little searching on this forum for subs and boxes, you'll find a ton of information.

I didn't even know they made 6" subs. But yea you should get like two 10's or 12's, that'll give ya a lot better sound like he said. They aren't too expensive either.

....iight....I call them Mid-Bass subs, b/c they do hit the lower notes but nothing like an 8 or 10 or 12 or so on....here are some really cheap ones....i think they are $16...for that price just buy them and see what it is like...lol. Alot of my friends have what they call "temp systems"....basically something in there to keep you appeased while you save up for the big ****. Its your call, not the ppl on this boards....

thanks alot guys, i decided agains the 6 inch sub thing, i was figuring it would make decent sound with my 2 MB Quart 6X9's putting out bass too. i'm not sure how good those stand up to others though. anyway i got hte best deal of all today, i asked my neighbor about some stuff and he gave me a 10 inch Orion in a box for... FREE! heh, the bad thing about it all is that it was sorta junky (but i cleaned it up really nice!) and the box is huge. the only way it can get into my car is by laing down my back seat and putting the speaker pretty much right between the 2 front seats, the box is long and circular with 3 little things sticking out from the sides to keep it from rolling, it wont fit in the hole in the back at all and i can only get it in the hatch by putting it right up against the back seat and laying it sideways (making the sound come from one side or the other...) what would happen if i put another 10 inch in the other side of it? i'de drill the holes in the sides of course. anyway thats my story, what do you guys think?

ohya, i have a 1000 watt clairion amp with 2 pioneer 4 inchers in the front (i put the removeable tweets in the console, between teh shifter and the... hole thingy, whatever its called, it looks really good) 2 6X9 MB Quarts in the side pannels and now the 10 inch orion in the 500 pound box
