Pioneer cd/dvd and tv installation if possible

Hey,

I want to run a pioneer system sometime in the next few months, but I want to know if someone has ever tried this before. I am going to run a double DIN pioneer unit for a dvd/cd player. That should be easy enough. Now has anyone ever tried to custom do a flip down tv.. maybe a 6" or 7" underneath the two vents under the the dash above the center console.. I was thinking about putting a flipdown so I can hide it when Im not in the car.. but I wanted to know if anyone has every tried.

I haven't seen that before.....

One question why don't you just get an in-dash instead and run a cd/dvd changer???

Id be afraid of 2 things, first and most important.. I have a 5 speed. I think that when im in 5th that it will be blocking the view of my passenger and possibly some of mine. Secondly, I havent found one yet that is the GM size, the double DIN I believe is what they call it. most are just the single and regular size. I have a regular size cd player now and i hate the way it looks with the adapter behind. Also, I would think it would be cool to have it dropping from the vent area. That way it is more visible, plus I have never seen it done and thought it would look pretty cool. What kind of rims do you have on your car? They look a little like the snipers but im not sure. I am thinking of running the old style cragar ss rims from jegs.. they have them in 17's maybe running them an inch bigger in the back.

If this helps.....measure the area under the wents in the middle and get the dimensions for it....

Here are the dimensions for specific 5.6" flip down........so you can compare......

Display: 5.6" NTSC/PAL Full Color TFT Monitor
Picture: Mirror Image Reverse Switch
Inputs: 1 RCA Video Input
System: NTSC and PAL
Resolution: 230,440 Pixels
Power: DC 12v
Dimensions: 6.4" X 10" X 2"
Accessories: Custom Fit Roof Mount Flip Down Enclosure with Dome Lights & Wiring Harness.

Post the dimensions when you get them.....it will help you find a screen that can fit.......

they are 17" Neeper Synchros....

I bought them off Ebay.com for $750 which did include the shipping......
The adapters for 4x4.75 to 5x100mm bolt pattern was about $450 for all 4.......
That brings the total to $1,200
I'm gonna need new tires soon though......

Also the Neeper Synchros were discontinued about 4 years ago......so you need to buy them from warehouses that have them or get some used...

I'm not a fan of the DeepDish rims that you find on RWD rims, and these are flush with the tire so to me they look sharp.....

Yah they are pretty cool. I agree with you on the rwd rims. I really dont like them either. So can you take most any front wheel rim and buy some adapters to make them fit? Would you think the 17" Cragar SS rims would look alright on an all black setup..
Also.. I have bought a billet chrome front grill.. I havent seen anyone with it one yet.. but I have mine just sitting here.. I dont want to put it on till after we get the engine done and the car painted .. Have you seen anyone with one on ?

Well here is my 60 second solution as to where I wanted to put my LCD screen.. You can see the wires stickin out which sucks.. This is very temporary (I hope) until I can think of something better to do with it, but since its in the casing it is, theres not much of a choice.. Only good thing about it is I can remove it whenever i want in 2 seconds and hide it, and the dash has no unit it in so it works kinda well.. Otherwise I'll have to buy something else in the future, but for now for the price I paid I don't really care..

Ugh, don't even ask =p This whole project was a mess from the start, it was a spur of the moment thing and I didn't really put any thought into it so its all a mess.. It doesn't bother me all that much beacuse I don't have many people in my car, and I like having the computer.. I may remove the spare tire and put it there.. Haven't decided yet..

I have a sound blaster audigy in there, it sounds beautiful, but if you have a ****ty MP3 its gonna sound like crap of course.. All my MP3's are at least 192 bitrate.. I mostly just try and rip stuff rather than downloading so I know its all good..

It would be cool to use that feature on WinAmp that allows you to put a trip screen on and what not.......

What about the mouse????

Oh yeah 1 more thing........how did you make the video out on the computer?

Not sure what you mean by a trip screen, I can use whatever visualizations I want to download though it looks pretty cool, just never get bright ones or it sucks at night

I have a trackball mouse in there its nothing fancy its a cheap pos but I dont ever use the mouse unless i wanna play a DVD (which is basically never since I didnt really do the computer for that in the first place, its just doable) Only thing I use the mouse for is to click on the playlist window so thats the active window in order for the pad to function properly, If I can figure out a way so its automatically in the playlist rather than the main winamp control then I'm gonna do it!

Sounds interesting............

I'll get some pics of my set-up once i get paid......don't work for CitiBank......they take FOREVER to pay you.....

I never though about the trackball idea..........that would be easier.....

I plan on putting a laptop under the driver's seat.......so i can take it inside at night.......I'm afraid to ask but is your computer just laying the back of you car??

Also do bumbs affect the cd that is playing in the computer??? Games, DVD's, etc........

Yah its pretty much laying back there but its in a case and it looks ugly so many no one will steal it As far as CD's skipping I've never played a CD since I installed it, I just rip copy to the hard drive so no skipping! Although I don't think it would skip but I could check. going to bed now its 3:30 AM
