Is the amp safe in well?

I have two 12" kenwoods enclodes in a Q-Logic plastic box. Under the sub box is my 250W amp. It's not very poerwfull but can still kick, and after a long day of bumpin it can get pretty warm. It's got plenty of room down at the bottom of the well, nut not alot of air circulation. could that cause any problems? and what could happen if i took out the fuse-20 and put in a fuse-25, could that cause over heatage?

OK, so if its the Excelon amp under the box in the well, then its fine. Theres usually cold air around that area anyways, plus the Excelon amp has a built in fan so it should be good.

where are you talking about switching a fuse? If your talking about the one at the battery on the power wire you COULD (say that with great leanency) up it 5 more amps. Now, if your talking about the fuses on the amp, and putting a 25 where a 20 amp fuse is on the side of it. Thats a BIG :nono:.

Those fuses are made to blow at 20, because Kenwood doesn't want them to blow at 25. But either way, its not going to cause overheating.

i was thinking about putting in a 25 amp fuse located on the amp instead of the 20.

I do. Reason: I want to stretch my amp to the max w/o having to buy a new one, but i figured if i go with a 25 i might burn it out and end up replacing it anyway.

i'd try to run a 25 amp fuse but that's me,heck i'd even go higher and also that's not the best spot for a amp you may want to try moving it to a better location.i'm not so sure that the heat from the amp is blowing your fuses usally the thermo limit will kick the amp but i'm not to educated with kenwood amps.By the way that's a nice red bird want to trade j/k

i'm gonna try running the 25 amp fuse instead of the 20. and if anything goes wrong, i'll blame it on you, mypurple92rs

With your amp, does it have heat sinks? If so you want the amp placed so the hot air can rise away from the heat sinks and not rise into the amp. Also I would recommend at least 8 ga. power cable wire. I'm planning on getting either 2 or 4 ga. for my system, and remember one of the weakest links in a system is the wires, most people use thin wires because they are cheap, the thicker the wires the more power you will give the amp or speakers. I would also recommend not putting a 25 amp fuse in your amp, your kenwood amp was designed for a max input of 20 amps, if you put a 25 amp fuse in it could fry your amp. Also sorry to hear about hitting a deer.

if you put the bigger fuse in YOU WILL FRY THAT AMP so unless you want to get a new amp dont change it to a 25 and also make sure your heatsink is up not sideways or upside down and i would probably get a heavier guage power cable and make sure that it too has an inline fuse and make sure you have a GOOD ground........ i speak from experience just my .02 ....... goood luck

WTF????

How in hades do you guys get way with running 20 amp fuses?

My Punch 100 will blow 50 amp fuses all day long.

I've got an 80 amp near the battery, then a dist. block with a 30 amp going to my Alpine (75x2) and another 60 amp going to the RF.

I dunno...... Even my friend's 75x2 Sony Xpuke takes a 30 amp from the factory.
