Sub Choice

Im torn between subs, I know these questions are always asked and some are tired of hearing, "which are better, which are better" but I need some input. I want either 2 12" Kappa Perfects, or 2 12" Type R's. but I want people to hear me coming from far away, also cars around me to shake, hehe. Is there that much of a difference between the subs, they both look to except the same vol. box, the Perfect has a higher SPL and RMS range, also I could get both of them for about the same price. would people hear me comming with these. None of the audio shops around here sell them so I havent been able to hear them personally. thanks for the help.

2 12's of any brand in the hatch of an f-body will be loud. make sure you have a strong box and then send 600+rms between the two. That should be plenty to **** off those sitting next to you in traffic......

If you REALLY want to shake em, get 2 15s, or 2 kicker solobarics. Between the two you mentioned I would go with the Kappas. Do you really want something that says Type R in your car anyway?

thats quite an ignorant post. because it says type r its no good? i guarentee you that the Rs have equal sound quality to the infinity perfects and can hit harder. i'll take my R anyday....

Ignorant? Why so? All I said is that I would go with the Kappas... And my type r comment was said because theres a billion and one import products that are gay and just slap type r on them to appeal to posers who buy stuff that looks fast with little function. That is a fact. Just go to walmart or whatever and take a look around.
As for why Alpine put type r on their subs baffles me. Sure it appeals to all the know nothing posers but they probly just buy some cheap xplod anyway. I was just knocking the type r badge, not the quality of the subs, so dont take it personally. And I was in no way telling you to sell your type Rs for perfects. And till you have db readings from testing perfects and type rs in the same box with same amp, music, area etc dont go saying your subs hit harder because you have them. That is true ignorance...

Dont get the Alpines...They sound terrible if you give any kind of power to 'em. The Kappa's can handle tons of power and sound crystal clear.

I've yet to hear anything that can come close to bone-jarring bass of Kicker solo-baric's. Those drivers are amazing! But, unless you have $600-700+ to drop on woofers, The Infinity's are a nice choice.

alpine is very good for speakers and decks, but i wouldnt recommend their subs. i have 2 kappa subs in my car,, they are amazing! if i drive down the street with them hitting, car alarms will go off. i pull up in parking lots, and car alarms go off. its really funny/fun. but yeah, deff get infinity. infinity is better than alpine in general. good luk.

if you are looking at prices, i carry both these items. if you are interested drop a line.

Get Power Acoustik ****'s if you want true ear drum shattering bass. They are 2400 Watts Max, 1200 Watts RMS and are VERY clear in a large ported box. 2 12's I have seen can hit a 151.6 dB. You can pick them up for around $180-200 a peice.

Eh, nothing is THE best on the market, my single eclipse aluminum 10 put most pairs of 12's to shame, and would probably come close to your 3 W3's

I wouldnt say that till you try every brand of sub/amp out there . Also 3 10s will be louder than 2 12s but he says he wants things to shake around him. That means lower bass freq. like 12s or 15s. 3 10s would also go much louder than you would ever want to listen to while in the car. From what he describes I think 2 12s, 2/1 15, or a solobaric(or 2, if you were insane) would be best for him shaking the rust off a k-car 4 lanes over... JL is undoubtedly one of the better brands out there though.

I'm hitting a147db w/ my 2 12's and 500w. I personally think they suck so don't get your hopes up. I'm upgrading everything though to infinity.
