Now Accepting Orders for Kick Panels/also an update on Stealth Boxes

All of my current orders are finally out! Now I'm going to be consentrating the majority of my time on fiberglass stealth box development. Since I can make kick panels and work on the stealth box simultaneously, I'm going to open the doors for more kick panel orders. I'm not yet ready to start accepting MDF orders though.

In case anyone forgot: www.subenclosures.com

on a side note:

Stealth box progress:

.8 cu.ft of airspace
up to 10" sub
behind factory panel on pass. side
retains the spare tire

ETA: 2-3 weeks
Price: TBD

What about a driver side one? Ohh, that would be nice. Some of us have bottles on the other side.

Those kick panels are sharp! (now bookmarking your website... ) Do those mids fire straight out, or are they slightly angled like the tweeters? Can't tell for certain by those pics. Also, what size drivers do they accept (diameter) and how much depth clearance do they provide? Thanks!!

Ok there is a problem with your web page. Its not getting the attention that it needs. When I search google.com for subenclosures as one word (like in your FQDN I mean domain name) it finds your page just fine. So anyone searching for this that forgets to put in a space may come across you site. But if someone puts in the space "sub enclosures" Then might not find your page. I tried and couldnt find it with in the first few matchs. You probably want to summit more that one word so others can find your site on the web. With this small change you should be able to make good business. I mean 120 for a custom fit box thats a great price. With that kinda money you would be making then you might be able to order the wood pre cut so all you have to do is put it together. That would be cool and would increase production. Hey you seem to know a load about audio stuff. How hard would it be to turn a box with that shape into a band pass. Looking at mine I would have to raise the top to fit the speakers.

Driver's side stealth may come later. I've still got a lot of things ahead of it (like installing my own system)

The mids fire pretty much straight out. The tweet is angled. They accept up to a 6.5" driver, and 1" tweet. Depth is about 3" (it can fit more, but I don't want to hear any whining about the magnet rattling against the metal or something )

I puposely haven't submitted my site to any search engines because I've been getting plenty of business just advertising here. Maybe if I quit my fulltime job, and only work subenclosures.com, I'll do that.

my bird is my truck.

Thats the only problem I run into when geting a box.

I know some peope have no problem carrying nothing with them. Some dont even care about having a spare or a good jack but I must have all my goodies.

I carry
some tools
tie down straps [carrying ladders or wood]
mini floor jack
4 way lug srench
jumper cables
tow chain
road flares
reflective road hazzard sign

If I had the room I would carry a real spare tire.

Not that I ever need them but its a just incase thing. I hate paying for tows or being bugged by cops if your on the side of the road dead.

Only problem Ive had and needed any of them when was my left front brake hose got vapor lock. Had to remove my front left pads and drive home on the E-brake.

You could do a box on the gas tank shelf, behind the backseat.

You think you got problems, Gumby, try carrying ANYTHING in a convertible trunk! (especially when it already has a 10" bass tube in what little trunk there was to begin with! )

I got one of those.

Maybe you should get your brain working and design some boxes that replace the back seat???

Remove a back seat and have two boxex that would replace them and also look good and not cheasy. Know if I did it they would look cheasy.

i would absolutely love a box that took place of the so-called "back seats". i would buy one :nods: of course as long as it doesn't look cheesy.

Bubba:
I still haven't got any pics back of the half well box. I should really start taking pics before I send stuff, but sometimes when I get behind I just have to send it as soon as possible.

A back seat box, while a cool idea, would require a lot of deposit money for me to start. It would take a lot of time, material, etc. Shipping might have to be by freight which could be $80-$150 just in shipping

Redbird:
If you want to, go for it. It has a lot of potential, but it's also a lot more work than you might expect. I think I've spent about 80 hours just answering E-mail since I started up.

I want it to hold two speakers inside 6 subs outside 4 6x9s in a glass tube, tweets on each corner of the triangle, Neon lights on the top across the beam, 1 mid on the bottom, and all to fit in a rectangle. Got it?

I just thought of something, you may not want to use the term 'stealth box' for the boxes you make. That is what JL audio uses and you could be possibly causing some legal prob's.

REZN8R - Question on your kicks
1- Do I use the grilles from the speaker company or do you supply them?
2- Is there enough room in the kicks for the crossovers or should i mount them someplace else

These are the components I was thinking of using

Those components look nice
1. You use the manufacturer's grille
2. The crossover won't fit in the kick panel. I mounted my crossovers behind the carpet on the firewall on each side.

Thanks for the advice on the "Stealth box" terminology. I thought it was more of a descriptor than a trade name. I don't remember seeing the circled "R" next to it, but I could be wrong. Maybe I should start calling them:

Vehicle specific integrated sound reproduction chambers?

I'm not sure if it is trademarked/registered or not, but I would think they would. JL is really picky on things like that is seems.

That name would work pretty good! LOL

Here are a couple of pics of the stealth box in design phase. I'm sure it'll change a lot before it's done.

Hmm that doesnt look very deep, does it sit far into the tire or wheres the mounting depth ? Also if it sits into the tire, im kinda worried it *might* have some conflicts with my aluminum 1LE spare, hopefully not.

Thats a lotta sub to fit in that

Z28: mounting depth on your sub is only 4.75", no problem. The mounting depth is derived from the inside of the rim, so that might be a problem with your 1LE spare. Maybe take some measurements of your spare and E-mail them over. The available mounting depth should be 5.5", with an optional 1/2" spacer that will allow 6" depth, but require slight modification to the inside of the plastic panel.

Looking forward to seeing the install Birdman!

Don't see a jack for the spare. Do you have to remove it to fit the box in?? Won't the sub cone hit that plastic panel when its installed??

The jack is in there in the original location. The face of the box will be far enough away from the panel to keep the cone from hitting it.

My jack must be different. looking at the first picture your post, it mounts to the top left side byt the white square and runs down and bolts to the brace that holds the tire in. I have the dough nut spare.

I would suggest a 2 piece design that maybe hooked or pined together or just two pieces. make it easier to ship, remove , install.

With plenty of speaker room in the stock locations there really is no need to make the back seat box with anything but subs in-mind.

2 12 or 15 in subs at a 35-40 degree angle. ported or sealed. as long as they are big enough to hide any mounting points of the original seats, almost any shape would work.

Another idea, I am sure therewould be lots of interested buyers is a "NOS" stealth box. a speaker box with a hidden pannel to hide your NOS bottle from the sight of mr. pig.

Finally Got the PICS

Ok, the camera at my work was lost for a bit, but here's the pics of the half well box,...as promised. By the way, Rez was awesome to deal with, and I couldn't be happier with the finished product. It fits in there real nice, doesn't budge or rattle at all, and sounds awesome with the MTX Thunder 8K.

Looks good! Is the box pushed down all the way in that last pic? I thought I remembered it sitting more level.

Axle/Gears: 10bolt Richmond 3.73 Torsen
BAH, keeping the spare tire . That's what AAA is for .
Much better fitting in a single 12 than a 10 . No I don't take orders, I was going to work with DJSexay on this one but he's been really busy with his car and those kicks.

I just tried it and it worked. Must have been a momentary maintenence issue or something.
