Ahh, semi-dead Alpine CD player
I have been running an Alpine 855 (GM fit) for a couple years, and I think the internal amplifier blew out on me. The head unit works, the radio displays stations, and the CD's spin and play, except there is no sound coming from the speakers. I haven't checked to see if the pre-outs still work, but I don't have an amp handy at this point to check. Has anybody ever fixed the internal amplifier on these things?? I have some electronics skills, but I haven't opened the unit up yet to take a peek. Thanks
could be fried, take it out, and take it to a car audio shop, they can test it for like 5 bucks....and what are you talkign about the pre outs? are all the speakers not working or just the subs --assuming you have subs since the pre outs have nothing to do with the dash and panel speakers--
All the speakers are not working. I never had any subs attached to the preouts, but i was thinking that if the internal amplifier was too much to repair, I could simply use an external 4-channel amp to power my speakers. I would think that the preouts would still be live even if the internal deck amp is fried, that's all I meant by that. The car audio shop sounds like a good idea, I may end up doing that, prolly better than messing with it myself... I don't want to be
myself later, haha.
