which is neg and pos?

which is neg and pos?

hey, i wanna hook up my speakers tomorrow but im not sure which side the neg wire and the pos wire go to, there were no directions telling and it doesnt say anything on the speaker...ill show u a pic of what it looks like. and the monster cable that i got....the side with the stripe is the positive one right? i just want to get everything correct so i dont have to rip it apart and do it agian

On that picture, if Im not mistaken, the right side hookup is the Pos ( + ). If it doesn't sound right, try the other side. - lmao -

grab some short pieces of wire and connect them to each terminal on the speaker. Grab an AA battery and touch each end of it with each wire. If the speaker pushes outward, the wire touching the positive end of the battery is the positive terminal. If the speaker pulls inward, they're reversed; ie. the positive on the battery is hooked up to the negative speaker terminal. This is the best way to be 100% sure what your speaker terminals are.

Generally the big one is possitive, and the little is the negative.

But to make sure, you can try the battery thing. It works.

The object is to correctly phase all the speakers; if some are reverse phased the sound vibrations will tend to cancel each other instead of reinforce.

This means that you just need to connect all speakers the same way.

Use the dry cell test to establish the speaker direction when using different speakers.
