Tried an Alpine 7873

I got a hold of an Alpine 7873 for pretty cheap a few days ago. I decided to install it in my car just to see what it sounds and feels like. I liked it right away! It sounds a lot cleared and the bass feels right compared my Sony CDX-620 deck. Now I put the Sony back in and I can really tell the difference in sound quality. The Sony is definetly inferior ! I would keep the deck but a friend wants to buy it for $150 so I'm selling it. Plus the Sony looks A LOT better.

What do you guys think of the Pioneer DEH-P8400MP as a replacement ?

Go with Alpine if your going to buy another deck. When I get tired of my Sony, im buying an Alpine 7989. Alpine decks are bad a**. As well as almost everything Alpine makes for that matter.

I'm thinking about an alpine DVA-7996 but I'm having a hard time finding out whether the 24 bit DAC used for the DVD is the same DAC they use for regular cds, or if that gets put into their usual cheap 1 bit DAC.

Jim-

It says there two DAC's, but they only list the M DAC under "DAC type". Do you think they would list the regular 1 bit DAC if they were different?

Id imagine they use the same one, but i dont know two much about it. Id like to know whatever you find out though. Maybe today when i get home from school ill email them. <shrug>
