Always Somethin!

Well, in the past few weeks I have replaced all my factory stereo crap and put in a Sony CDX-M730 cd player, Infinity Reference 6953i 6x9's in the rear, Infinity Reference 4652cfp's in the dash, all for $275.00 the only thing used are the 6x9's but they sound fine and WOW! sounds much better than factory.
Let me tell you what though, the dash speakers are so much louder or should I say crisper than the rears, I gotta almost set all the sound to the rear.

Will a 4 channel amp help out to even the sound up? I know you guys will say get the kickers but I didnt have enough money for them..So what else can I do?

I got the HPF set to 125 also theres a function on my HU for EQ tune and when I click on it it has a bunch of mhz setting......whats that for? anything I should mess with?

thanks

I would think that the dash speaker are sounding more crisp because they are probably getting close to the wattage they need, whereas the rear 6X9s are underpowered right now. An amp will help out alot, especially since you have nice infinities.

it's better to have cleaner sounding front stage, since that's the majority of music you hear comes from - which is why people choose to install quality components in the front. I too believe that the 6x9s are just underpowered. if you were to amp them close to their RMS you will get the clean loud sound similar to the 4x6s, especially since Infinity is a good brand.

The 4x6 RMS is 40w with a MAX of 120w and the 6x9's are 100w with a MAX of 300w. My HU only pushes 52wX4.....does that mean that the speakers are getting 52 watts each right now with out an AMP?

so would that make either of the speakers unde powered?

seriously though, is that why the sound is off balance? cause the output of the HU is lower than the RMS of the speakers.

Yes it will throw it off.

The actual output of the HU is only about 13w per channel.
Since your 4x6 require less power, they sound better.

Get a small decent amp, and they will sound really great.

I can recomend the Volfenhag amps. They are cheap, and as far as I can tell, work really good.

I have it powering my kicks, and 6x9's, and it is loud.
Good choice on speakers, but Like I said, sony

but for $175.00 brand spankin new, never been used, I say the Sony HU is a great deal that couldnt have been beat, anywhere!
Ok, if it say 52x4watts for the HU, why are you saying its lower?
Does that also work for the speakers too?

Well that is the MAX power rating, and it will never reach that without severly distoring the speakers.

Any Amp that can put out 50 Watts RMS will be good.
MAX Power ratings are decieving.

My Volfenhag is rated at 1000 Watts MAX.
But it only puts out about 75-100 RMS per Channel.
It is a 4 Channel amp. Perfect for running my kicks, and 6x9's.

I would recomend it. It's only like $130 on ebay.
Now that is a deal you cant beat.
It does pretty good on subs also. I was surpised when I tesed it out.

Not as clean at my RF 800, but still better than good.

I just bought this alpine from crutchfield for 200. Im sure you can find it on ebay cheaper and it sounds very nice. I had the same problem KJ had with noise in my MTX amp so I bought this and have no complaints.

no problem. the only real reason I buy from crutchfield is because I have a credit line there. Not to mention with my luck i will need the warranty before its up lol.

the reason the speakers sound out of balance is generally, smaller speakers are more efficient, which means they get louder with less power (in the upper range of course). I'd say get a nice 2 channel amp, brand name, 50 or so watts rms per channel and you will be good to go. good luck

also that headunit puts out 23 watts rms. the EQ setting are there for people who like to tune their headunit to their tastes or to balance out the levels of the speakers. read up in you owners manual how to work it and play with the settings. you might find out that if you turn the higher frequency response down you might not have such a harsh top end. good luck again.

yeah, thats what i'll do is look for an amp....but I thought its good to get a 4 channels amp so it can power all 4 speakers and then a sub if I ever get that....the guy and CCity told me that the best bang for the buck was a 4 channel Bazooka Amp they had there that puts out 60 watts rms per channel at 4 ohms..........only $199 but I can probably find it cheaper on EBay....

the only problem with amping the 4x6's is if they cant take that much power. they are pretty efficient, so you dont want to blow them.

other amps to check out are mtx, rockford, kicker, alpine, kenwood
