Audiobahn vs. JBL (someone who sells car audio would help or has experience w/ both)

Ok, I have had people tell me both were crap...I have had both tell me that both are good or one is bad and the other is good, or visa versa. So...forget the price tags, forget the looks, forget the brand name and your feelings for them. I want to know how much difference there is between an Audiobahn H1300HCQ and a JBL 1200.1. I'm not talking there specs on the internet sites or anything, can anyone get me true RMS and Peak power of both amps? Which amp is just the baddest, best amp of the 2? Im am trying to decide on one or the other, right now I'm for the Audiobahn because I like looks as well as power and I have heard Audiobahn amps and they sounded great, but I also haven't heard the JBL to compare it to. but if the JBL is the better of the 2 I will get that. I know its personal opinion really, but I just want some true numbers. Don't tell me to get a different brand or anything, pretend these are the last two amps on the earth and you had to choose the best amp based on the two, or the world would end...which would be the best choice? Thanx!

the jbl costs less and puts out nearly 1500 watts into a 1-or 2-ohm load.. i dont know how (if at all) underrated the audiobahn amp is, but for the price and performance, you cant beat the jbl. it is ugly, tho..

Is the 1500 Watts a true RMS or is it from one of the amps spec sheets? If so they underrated it almost 300 watts! If I end up with the JBL, I'll prolly hide it cuz it is ugly...

I have the JBL 1200.1 and it's an awesome amp. Did a little research on it and it was bench tested at 1800 watts. We hooked it up to my friends 4 12" MTX 5000's in his TA and it was louder than his MTX amp (which by the way hit 148db) so if that help ya out at all there ya go. I also like the look of the JBL with the red light on it.

the jbl amp has been benched at 1470-something (if i remember correctly) true rms output.. its quite underrated, and for under 300 bucks its an incredible deal

Hey I got the little brother of the JBL 1200.1..... I got the JBL 600.1 and man it makes my 2 12W3's hit hard. Like really hard and clean.... I got it running at 1 ohm and I have had it cranked on 90+ degree days and it just keeps on going. I hope this helps... in my opinion you can't beat the bang for the buck.

P.S. - Mine is putting out 700+ RMS.

I emailed Ike Sound to see what they could tell me and this is what I got back from them...

Its really hard to caculate power output on an amp. There are a number factors that play in the notion power output. Voltage, ohms and temperature are all key factors. The Abahn pulls about twice as much power as the JBL so i hope you have a good amount of voltage for that amp.
What does he mean by "it pulls twice as much power as the JBL"? Does that mean it is more powerful than the JBL? Also does ANYONE run Audiobahn amp? Im pretty sure there not complete crap like a few people have told me but why does nobody use them? I heard an Audiobahn amp on 2 Eclipse 12" or 15" (cant remember which) and he hit 153.xx with it so they must be good amps.

Also, how do I tell what my amp is putting out now? Im kinda curious to see why my Type-R is getting now so I know how much room I have to work with.

is the audiobahn a class d like the jbl amp? if so, i dont see why it would be "pulling" twice the power.. another thing to think about is that, if you're running at 2 ohms, the audiobahn only supplies 600 rms, while the jbl still cranks out the 1400+...

it doesn't seem like its that hard of a choice to me, the jbl is a much more versatile, powerful and cost-efficient amp.. the only downside is that the audiobahn looks cooler. if thats more important to you, then get the audiobahn.. otherwise i don't really see why you'd want to spend more money for less. just my 2 cents tho..

Well, after a little reasoning with my parents (mainly mom) she agreed to get me the JBL 1200.1 for Xmas . So that's settled, I'll end up with the JBL. Sounds like it should have been my choice from the start. Now that I have the amp for the sub(s) found, I decided to find an amp for my 6x9/4x6. I would like to get REZN8R's kicks in the future, but for now I will get a decent set of 4x6's. Im thinking Alpine 6x9, and Alpine or pioneer 4x6's with a JBL P80.4. Since I will have one JBL amp, might as well have stay with the same brand. Should I get 4x6 plates or normal 4x6's or would it be better to forget the 4x6's all together and just run 6x9's until I can get some kicks? I would like to put an Alpine component setup in the kicks when I get them.

No, but i have heard good things. They are kinda expensive from what I see in Crutchfield and nobody around here sells them and I'm not sure if Ikesound carries them, I'll have to check that out.

well i know you already figured out which amp you want to get. I say good choice but as for subs Abahn all the way. hehe...off-topic but I thought I'd add that since I love mine. What the person from Ike Sound meant by pulling more power is that the Abahn amp will pull a much greater current than the JBL will. So in essence it needs more juice from the alt/battery to make just as much sound as the JBL does. Good luck!

The JBL is by far the better amp...the Bahn will draw more current, or juice off your electrical system, as where the JBL is more effecient with the power it pulls......I think you'll like the JBL much better.

I got my Infinity Kappa 4x6 plates and Kappa 6.5 2 ways for $95.00 a pair from Ikesound.com. I got the 6.5 because i have my system in my blazer and its 6x9 slots were VERY shallow so i got the 6.5s and they kick out some nice midbass with my amp. I have the JBL 80.4 running the 4x6's and 6.5's and they are very loud and clear. Then, I have the 12W3's and the JBL 600.1 pounding the lows . I must say I love my JBL amps and they don't kill my stock '88 S-10 Blazer electrical system.
