Stock stereo and an amp?
Stock stereo and an amp?
I want to keep my stock stereo setup in my z. I would like to change speakers and put an amp in. My question is, I have an old Rockwood (think that's the name?) amp and it has two input jacks where you connect the wires from the stereo into. From there, it has 4 ports 2neg, 2 pos. for the speakers. What do i plug into the amp in the input jack? I do not think the stock stereo setup has these male jacks which are needed to plug into the amp? I'm more of a motor head, and not too much into the stereo stuff?

you will have to go get an adaptor (i cant remember what it is called right now) and use the two rear speaker channels of the head unit. if you have the speaker-level inputs on that amp, you can just run a pair of speaker wire to the head unit and connect them to the two rear speaker channels of the head unit. it would be much easier to just get new head unit or have someone do it for you but if you want i can try and draw you a pic.
Yea, I can wait! I'm in no hurry, however, I would like to put in some new speakers and the amp. I want to retain the stock stereo to keep it looking stock! The Amp does have a diagram that shows how to hook it up. It states that the intake from the stereo plugs into the input jacks, then the wires go into the little holes with black and red tabs which crimp the wires much like thoes on the back of most home stereo speakers. Thanks for the help!!!!
