busted radio

I didn't know whether to post this here or the electrical forum. My radio isn't working at all. However, if I push the power button, the antanae will go up and down accordingly. Could this just be a fuse? Please help, I'm going on an 850 mile road trip soon, and it would suck to have no tunes the whole way. Thanks.

buy a mulitmeter for $20 at autozone or wherever. clip the black (negative) to any exposed metal that is connected to ground. with the red pin, check to see if there is power at both the batt and acc power leads at the radio when the ignition is turned on.

if you've got power, its time to toss your radio, be sure to check for a proper ground at your radio too, you can clip one clip to ground and on to the stereo chassis with the radio plugged in (no power though) use tyhe continuity tester or "ohms" you should get 0.00 ohms with a good ground.

check all fuses that are involved with your radio and check for shorted remote wires and speaker wires.
