Question on Alpine headunit.
Question on Alpine headunit.
Ok tonight I was driving along and my music was playing and i went over a bump kinda hard..... then my music didn't skip but my headunit color keys went orange and none of the buttons worked. Then i touch the unit and it flickered. Then in like 10 seconds it went back to the normal green and everything worked. Nothing seemed wrong at all then. My MP3 light came on also and this was a regular CD-R. My unit is the 7894. Anyone know what this was about?
most likely jarred something on the circuit board. After my last experience with Alpine, I will never purchase a head unit from them again. Mine went to the shop after 2 weeks of having it, always skipped, nothing but problems. I would have it looked at(if it is still under warranty) and they can fix anything that is wrong with it. If not under warranty...well, I wouldn't worry about it!
alpine makes spectacular head units.. i rarely see problems with them. of course, one bad unit can lose a customer for life--its too bad you didnt get a good representation of alpines products, cuno.. usually they're spectacular.
Well i love my Alpine... this is the first that it ever did that. I even when over the bump again at a faster speed and it didn't do anything. On the way home there was no problem. It must have been a fluke or somethin. But I am still wondering about the buttons turning orange.

Orange is a second color choice for the green-buttoned alpine units. I don't really like the green glow but the orange glow is ok. I don't have an Alpine headunit yet so I couldnt tell you how to change it, but I have seen the 2 colors.
the color change was most likely caused by the bump, like mantioned, orange is the alternate option color. their is a setting to change it, not using the audio selection button, I think if you hold down either the power button or another button, the menu will appear that allows you to change color, bass range, and a couple of other options.
This wasn't the red (amber) that you can change to... it was a light orange that I never saw before. This was strange but I dunno what went wrong.... the only thing i can think of was that the connection between the face and the unit got jarred loose and was barely touching... i cause i pushed in on it a few times and it was fixed and didn't happen again.

take it in anyways. If its still under warrenty you should get at least some service. Hitting a bump shouldn't cause any problems unless there is a loose connection somewhere.
Better safe than sorry.
