problem with head unit

hey guys i just put in my rockford fosgate 9200 source unit this weekend but i had a problem...i dont know if this is wiring or not..but my car is sitting in a garage waiting for a new engine/tranny and the battery is dead..i had a battery charger hooked up to it for a while and i still had it hooked up when i tried to turn the head unit on...it turned on but when i had it on the face was flickering and stuff and the face wouldnt open to let me put in a cd, however, when i turned the head unit off the clock was comin in nice and strong, not flickering, and the face would open...now, is this just because i didnt have enough juice goin to the head unit to power it fully? or is there some kind of wiring problem with the power and whatnot?keep in mind my car wont turn over...

yeah sounds like its maybe not getting enough power, maybe check the main power wire going to the head unit and see if you getting the full battery voltage..

A head unit shouldn't take much amperage to turn on. I would think less than an amp. Try hooking it up to a 12v power supply.

the problem with this is that the charger was basically running your headunit. It was real choppy because the battery charger charges the battery while the head unit is sucking the juice right back out. This means that there is not enough amps, so your headunit becomes faulty. helps?
