I thought I would you guys since you know your audio stuff if I have a good setup. My cousin talked me in to buying a Kicker solo baric 12 inch sub and a Memphis audio 500d mono amp. I was just wondering if this is a good setup for a camaro and if it will produce moderate bass. Thank you for all your help and opinions.

I don't know anything about that amp but I hope it isn't way over-rated, because solo-barics sound GREAT and hit HARD when you throw massive power at them, but underpowered they sound crappy and actually very annoying... so as long as you have enough power from the amp you'll be happy
If it sounds crappy and everything seems to check out (appropriate box size, sealed tight, etc.) then you know what's wrong.

If you put a solo in the box that Kicker recommends, it'll probably sound pretty thick. If you throw the numbers into a box program, you find that it wants a HUGE box to have a flat system Q. I think it's something like 4 cubes or more, but I forget what size that's for. Either way... have somebody do some box modeling before you build.
Keep in mind that a 4 cubic foot box is going to take up your whole trunk area. The subs are decent, but I can think of a LOT of other subs that will work out better with the space you've got to play with.

If it's round, and it's a 12 inch, the box needs to be .88 cubic feet, make the box to those specs do not add the space the sub takes up, just build a .9 or .88 cubic inch box. These subs can go in box range from .66-.88 for a 12. I have 2 of the old school ones in .7 a piece and they rock the house.
I have heard good things about those amps, they are pretty expensive from my understanding, 500 watts will produce plenty of bass. You made a good choice.

If it's the L7, I personally don't recommend the .88 sealed...that was great for the round D series, but not the L7's.
If you did get the L7, do a 1.75 ported, and it with proper power, has been know to take out two woofer setups.
The amp you have mentioned will do 550-600 watts, and is a good amp. I think you'll have a good combo!

I am runnin an L7 with a 1000w amp. I fear my rear glass breaking.
... Its damned awesome
... Its damned awesomethe sub i have is the square one. I built a 1.75 cubic foot box for it in my trunk. It is sealed though. I did not have to right now to deal with making a ported one. All i know is when the bass hits your whole body shakes and you feel it hard. Thank you for all your replys. Oh by the way my parents hate it. Ha Ha Ha.
