rear 6x9 pics

im putting in new aftermarket pioneer 6x9 speakers to replace my old ones. i dont know how i can shape the guard ring that protects my speakers to contoure with my interior. righ tnow they would mount flush to a flat surface. if anyone has been able to make the ring formed to the interior please post a pic of it.

here what i have, they are infinity reference 6x9's, i didnt have to cut anything, but i did have to bend out the plastic to get one of them in there just make sure you have every thing in there snug like, so there are no vibrations.

put the guard behind the plastic. Then put your original covers over them. Looks factory, sounds nice.

i have a problem with mine i got an older pair well not really that old probably 2000 i got a pair of pionnerr 6x9's and now they are starting to almost fall apart like they have a chrome kind of color to it and the chrome looks like it is flaking off on the mids and highs i keep the sail covers on all the time but i took them off it look at them one day and the chrome accent color was flakin off what could have caused this?

weather

the weathering of the speaker could have been the main cause, it get condensation on it some how and just rots the speaker and then when you start to use it its weak so it just flakes away. i could be wrong but it the only thing i can think of other than the speaker just not being worth a darn, but if the speaker is plastic {chrome?} im not really sure water from condensation could rot it, hard use in poor conditions cant be good for any speaker though. hope you get what you want.

i had sony's in my camaro for a while and took them out when i put it up. when i rebuild it then i wil get something a little better. It seemed that mine were putting out a little too much for their own good and after about 6 months they pretty much died. they were better than the stock tho so im not gonna complain

Aparently some of you have had bad experiences with Sony products. I have listen to a lot of different speakers and for what i paid for them the sound prety darn good! Granted there are a lot of bad sony crap out there but i have got some good speakers right now so i intend to keep them, also when people listen to them the think they sound just as good as some top of the line speakers.

I have not been impressed with the Sony line at all.

I listened to the 6x9's at the store a while back. The Jensen's sounded much better, as did the Pioneer's, etc. And IIRC they were cheaper....

But then again it can all depend on the install and setup too.

the chrome stuff on my speakers was just like a paint or somthing because yes they are plastic under that paint crap and they more than likely have been weathered only because my t-tops leak like a mother anyway so that is more than likely my problem.
