Factory CD Player Won't Work - Please Help
I have an 89 Camaro with the original factory CD player. It used to work fine. Then it started rejecting CDs and displaying an error message. Now it won't play them at all. It takes the cds in spins them for a few seconds and then splits them back out .
Can anyone tell me if this can be fixed and if it is something I can do myself. Thanks.

1. Unless your an EE I doubt you can fix it.
2. Expensive Fix.
3. Is it worth it.
4. Get a new deck
5. It's cheaper
6. It's better
7. You will love it
8. Your friends will thank you.

Thanks. I'm sure a new deck would be superior but I like the original one.
Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it?

LOL. I not only liked the factory look...I went out and bought one! (I didn't think the CD was available in 89...I heard 91 was the first year. You sure yours was original?). And yeah..its a crap unit..and yeah...I spent twice what I should have..to get something that barely works (mine won't play CDs until its been on for about an hour...I guess it needs to get warmed up!)...so I'm in the stereo shop the other day for something else, and I happen to mention what its doing, and ask if they fix antiques...he says "sure..I can fix it. I dont know why you'd want to, but its your car...and I can. Probably cost about $100. I probably even have a bunch of old ones laying in the back that I took out of cars that I can let ya have cheap". So who knows......maybe I'll fix it...cause I do like that factory look.....and to me, some of the new stereos just look totally out of place in a 15 year old car...or maybe I'll replace it with another..or with a new one, if I find one I like....

Yeah, I'm sure it was original. I have the build sheet. I have gotten a lot of positive comments about how cool it is that a 1989 vihicle came with a CD player from the factory. That's part of the reason I want to save it if I can.
It sounds like the problem I have is very common to this particular type of CD player. Has anyone figured out how to fix it?
