Help,Sub doesnt fit in box!!!
Help,Sub doesnt fit in box!!!
I have two Audiobahn flame Q series subs and was planning on putting them in the Q-logic enclosure. When I was test fitting them the magnet hit the bottom and the sub has about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch space between the box and the ring around the sub.
I was thinking of making some custom spacer rings made of wood to lift the speaker up a little and allow me to screw the subs in place. Will this affect the sound quality? Any other ideas? I dont want to buy another box, any tips are appreciated.:hail:

I did that to fit a 12w0 into a truck "wedge" box in which they cut the hole a little higher than the other. Sounded fine; friend of mine still uses this setup in his MX6 (sold it to him).

If the audiobahn has a vented pole piece, the rear should be at least a couple inches from the back of the box or it can cause the speaker to react in an odd way and can make funny noises because of the airflow through the pole piece.

use the ring idea liek you had and, i had an MTX RT 8000 a while ago but i couldnt afford a custom box for my back hatch, i inevatibly used a truck box that fit in the hatch area. The sub was way too big for the box so i made a trim ring, and i went to the hardware store and bought some of that foam stuff that you put between doors and moldings and it is even used as cheap weatherstripping for cars like mustangs (thats what the picture on the package looked like) anyway i wrapped that stuff around the side of the sub and then screwed it in... worked excellent for the time till i sold the sub with the box.
