ohms mismatched?
ohms mismatched?
I just had a kenwood kdc222 deck installed and it seems that the volume likes to drop every now and then, fades out seemingly under higher volumes I'm not familiar with solid state power amps but I do know that a mis-match in ohms between the amp and the speakers spells disaster for my Marshall guitar amps. like the deck I mentioned I also have 150 w pioneer 6x9's and stock ERS dash speakers plus I just bought these they are Rockford Fosgate punch 1812's but they arent hooked up because my amp is A big POS
which brings up the questions; what is going to be the best choice for an amp? whats goin with my deck? and if i decide to replace my front and rear speakers whats best? should I use just Rockford Fosgate since I am building my system within the parameters of my deck and subs? any help would be greatly appreciated

The problem with the Kenwood radio honestly sounds like an installation problem. If you paid to have it installed, you need to take it back and have the install re-checked. As far as your question about impedances - most of today's radios operate with speakers impedances from 2 to 8-ohms on each channel. Most car audio coaxial full-range speakers are rated at 4-ohms. You can easily check the condition of your speakers by simply disconnecting them from the radio and using a digital volt/ohm meter to check the terminals. If it reads less than 2-ohms or nothing at all, replace it.
Pioneer makes awesome coaxial full-range speakers. If you need to replace any speakers, Pioneer definitely gets my recommendation. They don't cost near as much as others and perform better!!!!!!
As for an amplifier for your 12-inch Rockford Subs, you can't go wrong with the Rockford Fosgate Punch 500S (or Punch 501S - the only difference is cosmetics). When bridged to your two 8-ohm 12's, it would put out 250 watts R.M.S. to each subwoofer.
