horrible whining sound

i just put my systme back in and now i have this horrible whine comnig from my rear speakers. when i turn the key back it doesn't do it/. but qwhen i start the car they start to whine. and as rpm,s increase the whine gets a little louder and higher pitch. i unplugged the rca's to the amp driving my 6 by 9's and it went away. i have the rcas for my sub amp and my 6 by 9's amp spliced off the same rca so what could be the problm?

Are you running the amplifier power lead next to the RCA cables? Sometimes that can cause noise from the speakers. It's a good idea to run the power lead down one side of the car, and the RCA cables down the other side, to keep them as far apart as possible.

Another possibility is a bad earth somewhere. Check the earth for the amplifier, and make sure the earth surface is clean and paint free.

Other than that, you can pick up a surpressor to attatch to your alternator which should eliminate engine noise being replicated through your speakers.

its really wierd thought because my if i unplugg the rca's from just one of the amps and leave the other one pluggerd in it still hits real hard but the noise goes away. i also have power and rca's down opposite side

The only thing I can think of is a bad earth on the amp you unplugged. Failing that there may be a problem with the amp itself, unless someone else can think of something.

That means it's definitely picking up interference from the engine. It is possible for a bad earth to cause this, so that would be the first thing I'd do. See if you can find a better earth point for the rogue amp, and make sure you scratch any paint off and clean it thoroughly.

both of my amps are grounded to the same spot. so wouldn't it make both of them make the sound??? only the one amp does it

If they're both grounded to the same spot then they would normally both emit the noise, yes. It may be worth humoring me and trying a different earth point, just in case though. Electrics are a funny thing, and many a time it's caught me out, proving that logical thinking can sometimes be a bad thing!

You've got nothing to lose by trying it, so good luck

si camaro is most likely right on this one, the noise you are experiencing is probably coming from alternator interference so as your engine speeds up and slows down the tone and pitch of the noise you hear changes you should look into a interference blocker from a stereo shop that you trust they are easy to install and will most likely rid you of your problem

EDIT: if both amps are of a different manufacture one may have a internal noise filter and the other may not that would explain why only one would make the noise

my friend had his rcas split like that, and thats what caused his to make that noise. I dont know if you have an actual splitter, or you split them yourself or what, but try a new splitter, or no splitter at all.
