Bass Problem

Hi, I have an 8" Bazooka Tube in the trunk, its been giving me noise problems for the past couple of months. Now, this doesn't happen ALL the time, sometimes, when I just really want to listen to the radio or CD.

When I turn on the head unit, say to the radio station, there is a constant loud noise coming from the tube, it doesn't go with the music, stays like that the whole time..after i mute the radio, and there is no music, the noise stays for like another 5 seconds then fades off, when i raise the volume again the noise comes back.

Today I was listening to the radio, it was fine, but when i turned it up louder, the noise was back, and it was constant, it didn't change with the music!!!

So what is it everyone...the head unit, or the tube. I've been told it's a bad ground, but I've check them, and changed them, and I'm positive it's not the ground wires, so don't mention it. All cabling is Monster including RCAs-which I've also been told is the problem.

Bottom line, what should I check before I go and pay $60 for someone else to look at it for me. If I am to replace the tube, it would be with another tube, or the Infinity Basslink Box (anybody familiar with that in our cars?)

If you need more info let me know, I'm attaching some pictures of my setup just to give you an idea. Thanks again.

Unplug the RCAs going into the tube and see if the noise remains.

Have you tried using a different pair of RCA cables and routing them away from any power wires??

i have the power wires running on the passenger side, and the rcas on the drivers, haven't changed the RCA cable though, because i'd figure that can't be it, since i paid $30 for it, and it is made by Monster.

Make sure the outer prongs on the RCA cords are tight on the jack. Usually when I have had this problem it from worn out connectors.

i guess he's talking about a ground loop isolator, nope, tried that, also note that the noise is only coming from the tube.

Does it matter if its the L or the R? And is it RCA from the deck or are you going through a speaker level convertor?

no when i unplug either one the problem goes away, however obviously i'm not going to keep it like that because the bass doesn't hit as hard...but the RCAs i'm talking about are coming from the Bazooka tube.

thanks everyone for your help, but i guess it would be impossible to really know what's going on without actually hearing and seeing what I have...however...i found out that the fault is in the internal amplifier of the Bazooka tube. The whole adapter that is soldered onto the amplifier got screwed up and apparently the RCA connections lost their solder, so....I went to a different car stereo place today, that's where they diagnosed the problem, didn't charge me for looking at it or anything and were very helpful, unlike the first people I went to. So I've decided to dump the tube and get an amp and sub. Going with an Alpine M200 mono amp with 8" Solo Baric Kicker sub, in a nice little box that fits beautifully in the well. Thanks again for all your help guys.
