Alpine CDA-D857 - can i use the basslink w/ it?

here's the deal.

i like this stereo, but it has only 2 pairs of pre-outs.

i want to get the infinity basslink as well for my system, does that mean it will not work because i don't have enough `outs,
or do i need one for it.
i don't have an amp for the speakers.
is it one or the other if i do want one later?

thanks if that made any sense!

well in my experiences, I used to have a bazooka tube I just have one RCA-pre-out and i just ran that to the sub and that was fine. I dont think it really matters which set of pre-outs you connect to, because either way ur getting a signal to the basslink from both the left and right channel.

Now.... unless you are getting the basslink for a good deal, I wouldn't spend the $400 if I were you. If your looking for something small, yet powerful, and nice sounding..consider getting a sub and amp. A Kicker Solo Baric 8" with an Alpine amp (M200) is definitely better than the basslink, it's small hits hard and all around good setup. You'd be surprised if you'd hear a little 8" puppy like that. That goes for about $350 and sound awesome. Reason being, is that my friend got a basslink, and it doesn't sound all that good. My 2 cents.

wow i'm surprised to hear that as far as the quality. several folks have posted how good it is, and yes i got it for a good deal ($200, never pay retail =P).

so, since the stereo comes with 2 rca preouts does that mean i can use one for the basslink, and one for an amp for the speakers? or does the other out need to be used for something else? thats my main question i was getting at, thanks for the response!

in my opinion, since i'm not an expert at the subject really, i beleive that it can be done. for examply you'd have the front pre-outs controlling the amp and the speakers, and the rear pre-outs controlling the basslink...i don't know if your headunit however has a seperate control for each pre-out, or if you do one thing on one pre-out it will affect the other, say if you raise the volume of the basslink, the amp will decrease, and vice versa...i think...no expert here thought, i'd wait to hear what other's have to say.
